Overview

Join ENERCON as a Part-Time Principal I&C Engineer. We are seeking experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineers at the Principal level to apply their knowledge to essential energy sector projects. This part-time position (averaging 30 hours or less per week) offers flexibility for professionals who want to continue driving results and contributing expertise while maintaining a balanced schedule.

Responsibilities

Our engineers have the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary partners, coordinate with diverse engineering teams and ensure project success. A typical day may include developing design studies, preparing engineering calculations & analysis, attending project meetings, performing a walkdown or mentoring junior employees. We help you apply your skills to exciting and important projects. You will also need to:

  • Create Impactful Engineering Deliverables: Produce precise and error-free drawings, calculations, and analyses that exceed industry codes, standards, and client expectations, ensuring every project is built on a solid foundation of accuracy
  • Set the Standard: Develop engineering documents that not only meet but surpass client, ENERCON, and regulatory requirements, adhering to processes that guarantee excellence every step of the way
  • Stay on the Cutting Edge: Continuously enhance your expertise in industry codes, safety culture principles, and advanced design techniques, staying ahead in the dynamic nuclear sector
  • Drive Quality & Precision: Deliver exceptional engineering solutions that align with rigorous quality assurance programs and consistently raise the bar for project performance
  • Cultivate Strong Client Connections: Build trust and lasting relationships through clear communication, professional engagement, and the consistent delivery of superior engineering results
  • Collaborate for Success: Partner seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams to create integrated, well-rounded designs that meet diverse project requirements
  • Be Active in the Field: Take your expertise on-site, engaging directly with client personnel, performing detailed plant walkdowns, and ensuring all structures, systems, and components meet the highest engineering standards #LI-MB1

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent in related field for the position and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in one of the following industries required: engineering/design services, power generation, nuclear power, heavy industrial including chemical or pulp & paper, and government (DOE) projects
  • Nuclear Engineering Change qualifications from any site that can be transferred are preferred
  • 10CFR50.59 Screen and / or Evaluation qualifications that can be transferred are preferred
  • Knowledge of digital hardware and software components commonly used in digital I&C system platforms
  • Experience in the design, installation, and testing of large scale (complete systems) digital control and computer monitoring system upgrades at power plants
    • Types of upgrades include replacement of Turbine/Generator Control Systems with DCS platforms, process computer, and cybersecurity systems
  • Direct involvement in the entire digital upgrade life cycle including feasibility studies, procurement specifications, design change packages, FAT/SAT test procedure development, installation, and testing
  • Working knowledge of the application of current regulatory and industry digital upgrade standards
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong analytical skills and problem identification/resolution
  • Candidates who have mentorship experience or a desire to mentor early to mid career engineers preferred
  • Must be able to get badged at a nuclear facility
  • Must be able to perform plant walkdowns

Pay Range

USD $90,000.00 - USD $177,450.00 /Yr.

When salary range is listed it reflects typical compensation for this role based on level and location. Actual pay depends on experience, skills, and education.
