CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Contract: 12 months

Pay: $65 hr. to $85 hr.

Location: Westlake, LA

Job Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day construction activities across both sites, ensuring safety, quality, standards, and schedule adherence, with minimal disruption to ongoing production

Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and site leadership to resolve field issues, including daily all-hands meetings or direct contact with designated site leaders

Ensure compliance with Client safety standards and regulatory requirements

Manage subcontractor performance, including issuing purchase orders and overseeing union crews (5-15 per site, up to 30 total); verify completion of work per specifications

Track progress, maintain documentation, and report status to project stakeholders, focusing on critical milestones and audits (especially for time-sensitive Hartford projects)

Support site audits, inspections, and incident investigations as needed

Support construction activities for major projects at multiple lubricants sites, focusing on civil/earthworks, structural/mechanical, electrical/instrumentation, and commissioning/closeout phases

Establish contractor controls and maintain project timelines, communicating proactively about changes

Use SAP R3 and MyForms at an expert level for tracking, approvals, reporting, and permitting; KMS for documentation, as well as SharePoint

Manage union and nonunion EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction)-managed contractors and direct-hire subcontractors, ensuring safety and global standards are met

Collaborate with vendors and suppliers; flexibility for local or travel candidates (Illinois or LA local preferred, but travel required)

Establish contractor controls

Support critical milestones or audits

Maintain projected timelines and budgets; communicate proactively about changes

Required Qualifications

15+ years of industrial experience in operations and maintenance, preferably in manufacturing

Prior experience with Lubricants projects or similar projects required

Proven experience in construction management within oil & gas, refining, or related heavy industry

Ability to independently manage construction projects as the main on-site point of contact, with authority to resolve code and OSHA issues, interpret and apply, Refinery, and Midstream standards, and make minor modifications to plant drawings

Ability to escalate major modifications and safety issues

Strong knowledge of API, OSHA, and industry safety practices

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

Proficiency in SAP R3, MyForms, KMS, and construction tracking tools

Ability to travel and possess a Valid driver's license

Ability to work on-site as required and support multiple sites

Experience managing union labor and understanding local permitting and environmental compliance

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with SharePoint and other site-specific construction tracking tools
