  • Monitor, interpret, and anticipate changes in FMCSA, FMVSS, NHTSA, UNECE, SAE, ISO, CARB, EPA, and other regulatory frameworks to inform design, execution, and compliance decisions
  • Ownership on development of requirements, tracing and verification, audit readiness, independent certification (if any) and post-approval running changes and maintenance of compliance demonstration
  • Support internal and external audits and investigations while implementing and leading a strong mechanism for corrective actions and ongoing enhancements
  • Construct and maintain compliance reporting and archive systems providing a single source of truth for regulatory evidence in the US, Canada, and Europe
  • Partner across cross-functional teams with Engineering, Operations, Legal, Policy, and other partners on embedding safety and compliance throughout the product lifecycle and deployment strategy
  • Act as Tesla's subject matter expert and external representative with regulators and standards bodies to resolve investigation/surveillance activities related to compliance (if any)

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related technical field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years' experience with compliance, regulatory or systems engineering positions, with proven knowledge of effective homologation initiatives for heavy-duty vehicles and the ability to manage programs independently
  • Hands-on understanding of automotive and heavy-duty vehicle regulatory codes and standards, including FMVSS, FMCSA, CMVSS, UNECE, CARB, and EPA with focus on understanding and navigating state-level regulations in the US as well as Canada
  • In depth experience in homologation, type approval, and certification of heavy-duty commercial vehicles in the US (federal and state, including CARB and EPA), Canada (federal and provincial), and Europe compliance processes
  • Demonstrated experience with non-functional requirements, root-cause analysis, and corrective action planning on a multi-jurisdictional basis
