SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The BioCryst Internship Program is more than just an internship, it's a launchpad for your future career. During your 12-week internship, you'll dive into biotech projects firsthand and see the impact your work has on patient lives.

JOB SUMMARY

This is an exciting opportunity to obtain hands-on experience in a fast-growing biotech company. As an IT Generative AI Solutions Intern, you will assist in rolling out and maximizing the utilization of Microsoft 365 Copilot and related AI tools across the company, while also implementing and evaluating platforms for other large language models (LLMs) beyond Copilot. This unique role allows you to apply your academic expertise in artificial intelligence to real-world business problems, bridging technical implementation with business use-case development in a cross-functional setting. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about generative AI, ready to innovate and 'roll up their sleeves,' and eager to collaborate with others in a fast-paced, learning-oriented environment to drive value through AI solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Copilot Deployment:Assistwith the configuration, rollout, and adoption of Microsoft 365 Copilot features within the organization, ensuring they are effectively used to solve business problems.

  • User Training & Documentation: Create clear documentation and user guides on AI systems and processes for both technical and non-technical audiences. Develop training materials or workshops to help end-users understand and efficiently use Copilot and related tools.

  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Serve as a point of contact to manage and resolve support tickets or issues related to Copilot and other AI tools, troubleshooting problems and escalating complex issues to appropriate IT resources.

  • Implement & Evaluate New AI Tools: Work on implementing and evaluating alternative LLM platforms (e.g.,OpenWebUI) to extend AI capabilities beyond Copilot. Researchemerginggenerative AI tools and assess their potential value for BioCryst.

  • Business Use-Case Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams toidentifybusiness challenges that could be addressed by Copilot or other AI/MLsolutions, andhelp design and prototype AI-driven approaches.

  • Stay Current with AI Trends: Stayup-to-datewith the latest developments in AI/ML, especially in generative AI and LLM applications. Report on relevant new features, methods, or best practices.

  • Other projects as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing aMaster'sor PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Hands-on experience with generative AI or LLM-based tools such as Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI GPT models, or open-source LLM frameworks (e.g.,OpenWebUI).

  • Proficiencyin programming or scripting (e.g., Python) and ability to work with APIs or AI SDKs is highly preferred.

  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills with the ability to learnnew technologiesquickly.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Self-motivated and proactive, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.

  • Familiarity with enterprise IT environments, Microsoft 365 applications, and cloud services such as Microsoft Azure is a plus.

  • Must be available to work~30-35hours/week during the 12-week summer internship period.

  • Must be in proximity to the Durham, NC office -some on-site presence may berequired.

INTERNSHIP DETAILS

  • Duration: 12 weeks, full-time

  • Program Dates: May 18, 2026 - August 7, 2026 *start and end dates are not flexible

  • Expected weekly hours: 32-35

  • Location: Hybrid, with at least three days per week in Durham/RTP office, at the Frontier RTP campus. This internship is not fully remote, and housing is not provided.

  • Compensation: Paid internship; wages are competitive and based on experience and academic level
