Cox has many of sources of environmental sustainability data that includes, but is not limited to, information on energy usage, carbon footprint, water usage, and waste generation. The role of Senior Environmental Data Analyst is a blend of tech-savvy data wrangler, critical thinker, and creative resolution guru in order to effectively gather and analyze all of the above data. Collaboration across the Cox portfolio of businesses and 3rd parties is key to gather data, define KPIs, understand performance, highlight data driven insights and enrich presentations with data visualizations. Roles & Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Gather and analyze large amounts of data and organize/translate findings into actionable insights
  • Serve as SME on existing data pipeline processes and design/develop future state data pipeline utilizing new technology as needed
  • Serve as liaison between Cox Conserves team and Cox IT/3rd party vendors to best ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of environmental data
  • Define and document footprint accounting/environmental reporting methodology with input and buy-in from stakeholders and partners
  • Develop robust QA process to reduce time for error identification and fix, leading to increased speed of delivery on insights
  • Provide timely resolution of data quality issues, and presenting the root cause to key business owners to ensure positive customer satisfaction
  • Prioritize, escalate, and deliver on work using a logical and methodical process
  • Providing coaching and guidance to other data analysts


Day-to-day duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop reports and visuals to support executive presentations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish environmental metrics and dashboards
  • Lead the first line of response to data quality issues; investigate and resolve underlying cause(s), escalate as needed
  • Work within multiple external and internal data sources to establish, maintain and improve environmental data collection, completeness, and quality
  • Establish and maintain QA processes to monitor environmental data for gaps or errors
  • Work with business owners and/or stakeholders to develop analytic methodologies for error detection and imputation of missing values
  • Ensuring that data/reporting complies with applicable environmental reporting standards (e.g. GRI, CDP)


Qualifications:

This individual will have:

  • Passion for Environmental Sustainability
  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of speed and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, with little oversight
  • Experience with developing and running custom ETL for data analysis: aggregating, cleaning, and analyzing large data sets, and identifying trends and patterns
  • Strong analytical, operational and technical competency, with a proven ability to present data and complex analyses
  • Experience defining scope of work on personal projects/tasks
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas in a simple, yet effective, manner
  • Ability to collaborate and function effectively with various teams and to gain consensus
  • Aptitude with new technologies and strong flexibility and adaptability to changing work environments
  • Experience mentoring more junior analysts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize work based on required deliverables


What We're Looking For:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, or like discipline) and 4 or more years of direct experience with analytics, reporting, data mining, advanced analytical modeling, and data visualization. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of expereince; or 8 years' experience in a related field and no degree.
  • Experience querying databases (e.g., Oracle, Snowflake, Redshift) with SQL
  • Highly proficient MS Office skills - advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience creating dashboards for stakeholders with data visualization tools: Tableau or PowerBI


Preferred:

  • Proficient in writing scripts with python/pandas/pyspark for ETL and data analysis
  • Experience working in cloud platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, AWS, or Azure
  • Experience with utilities and/or utility billing data
  • Experience with energy and/or sustainability metrics & reporting
  • Experience in developing AI solutions


USD 81,400.00 - 122,000.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $81,400.00 - $122,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
