Job Summary Summary: The Respiratory Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the staff of Pulmonary Function Lab, Adult Care, Nursery and Crestview. The Respiratory Manager plans and implements the overall respiratory care policies, procedures and services in the hospital, to include Pulmonary Lab, Angel II transport, Special Care Nursery, Students and Crestview Health and Rehabilitation. Ensures effective and efficient daily departmental operations. Job responsibilities: *Maintains skills in clinical respiratory therapy by taking clinical assignments as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. *Maintains competency in the use of EPIC, and other information management systems and serves as a resource to staff regarding the functionality of these systems. *Leads staff meetings with department leadership to communicate information, discuss safety/quality/regulatory issues, and monitor continued understanding and compliance with GHS and departmental policies. *Oversees scheduling and performance of patient's treatments to ensure smooth daily operations and quality services. *Assists with the development, revision, and enforcement of departmental policies, procedures, protocols, and standards to ensure quality care, efficiency, and procedural compliance. *Assists Respiratory management in developing, administering, and monitoring the departmental budget to ensure cost effective operations within authorized budget allocations. *Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion and coordinates activities with other leaders. *Participates in the selection, hiring, and orientation for staff; and in all phases of the performance management process (planning, feedback/coaching/appraisal). *Conduct rounds in all areas of Respiratory to ensure cohesive teamwork. *Submits a nightly Supervisor's report for all areas of Respiratory Care to Director of Respiratory as well as the Supervisors. Coordinates any reports, in-service, equipment incidents, medical gas shutdowns' events for Respiratory Care related to the respective shift. *Assists with new employees and pool personnel orientation and annual skills competencies. *Makes suggestions to Medical Staff regarding the appropriate use of respiratory equipment and patient interfacing. Assures clinical proficiency of staff through formal and informal in-services, instruction, and clinical supervision. *Actively develops clinical staff by utilizing clinical rotations and cross training to build depth. *Supervises clinical activities of Pulmonary Function Lab, Adult Care, Nursery, and Crestview including accuracy of medical record entry, appropriateness of physicians' orders, appropriateness and efficiency of care provided, and safe operation of equipment. *Provides employee counseling, with consultation of Director of Respiratory Care, and other area Supervisors, may discipline subordinates. *Actively participates and monitors quality indicators for the department. *Assists with personnel schedules, serves as employee timekeeper, and conducts annual performance evaluation. Qualifications: *Bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy required. Candidate must have degree completion within 18 months of accepting the position. *5 plus years of Supervisory experience to include charge or lead therapist required. *Master's degree in respiratory therapy preferred. Skills/Certifications: Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, RCP, RRT Preferred:NRP Core Competencies 1.
