SSAI seeks a Software Engineer IV to support an Earth Science contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). The candidate will provide advanced technical, geospatial, and coordination support to a disaster monitoring program, with a focus on sustaining and evolving the product's collaborative portal and stakeholder-facing capabilities. Work includes supporting the design, development, and implementation of the transition to a cloud-based environment, coordinating requirements and implementation activities across NASA organizations, and helping ensure the product continues to meet the needs of disaster management communities through workshops, case studies, and program deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the transition to a cloud-based environment, including design and implementation support.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support portal implementation and define the requirements needed for a successful transition.
  • Co-lead development of an workshops to ensure the product continues to serve stakeholders and to identify new opportunities and challenges.
  • Identify opportunities and help develop case studies, workflows, and tutorials demonstrating use of the product across disaster-related decision-making (e.g., risk reduction, response, recovery, resilience, and other topics as identified).
  • Support program deliverables, including contributions to the annual report, annual program documents, stakeholder needs workshop outputs, and other materials as identified.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in GIS, geospatial science, Earth science, computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting geospatial/GIS-focused applications or decision support capabilities.
  • Experience coordinating across teams to support requirements definition, implementation planning, and stakeholder-facing product improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support documentation, workshops, and program reporting.

Security Requirement

  • Portions of this work require staff to hold an active TS/SCI security clearance, as the contractor will be expected to attend meetings where classified work is discussed with U.S. Department of Defense and intelligence community partners.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Earth observation data use across disaster management communities and decision workflows.
  • Experience contributing to training materials, tutorials, and stakeholder engagement activities for operational or applied science programs.
  • Experience supporting recurring program deliverables (e.g., annual reports, program documents) and cross-organization coordination.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
