SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The BioCryst Internship Program is more than just an internship, it's a launchpad for your future career. We believe the best learning happens through hands-on experience, meaningful connections, and ownership of your summer projects. During your 12-week internship, you'll dive into biotech projects firsthand and see the impact your work has on patient lives.

Program Highlights

  • Hands-On Work: Participate in projects that have real impact on the team and company.
  • Hybrid Flexibility: Balance remote work with at least three days per week in our Durham/RTP office, at the Frontier RTP campus, providing access to resources, mentorship, and the full internship experience. Note: this is not a fully remote internship.

JOB SUMMARY

This is an exciting opportunity to obtain hands-on medical affairs experience in a fast-growing biotech company. Interns will support the team with meaningful projects, learning opportunities, and professional development experiences.

As part of our dynamic Medical Affairs team, you will contribute to projects that support the dissemination of accurate, compliant, and impactful scientific information to healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders. You will develop skills in creating high-quality medical content, interpreting clinical data, and collaborating across functions to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, passionate about science, and eager to learn the principles of medical communications in a fast-paced biotech environment. You should be proactive, collaborative, and committed to excellence as we work together to improve the lives of patients with rare diseases.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

*Develop and edit scientific materials such as slide decks, abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for internal and external audiences.

*Assist in creating and maintaining medical information resources, including FAQs and standard response documents.

*Conduct literature searches and summarize findings to support evidence-based communications.

*Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Regulatory, Clinical Development, Commercial) to ensure accuracy and compliance of medical content.

*Support planning and execution of congress activities, including preparation of scientific booth materials and coordination of advisory boards.

*Participate in review processes to ensure adherence to industry standards and company policies.

*Analyze clinical trial data and assist in developing key messages for scientific dissemination.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Working towards a PharmD or PhD in Life Sciences, Public Health, or related discipline (minimum 3.0 GPA).
  • Strong interest in medical affairs, scientific communications, and evidence-based medicine.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to critically evaluate and interpret scientific literature and clinical data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); familiarity with reference management tools is a plus.
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a collaborative setting.

INTERNSHIP DETAILS

  • Duration: 12 weeks, full-time
  • Program Dates: May 18, 2026 - August 7, 2026 *start and end dates are not flexible
  • Expected weekly hours: 32-35
  • Location: Hybrid, with at least three days per week in Durham/RTP office, at the Frontier RTP campus. This internship is not fully remote, and housing is not provided.
  • Compensation: Paid internship; wages are competitive and based on experience and academic level
