What to Expect

As a member of the Abuse Functional Safety group, you will be at the forefront of ensuring thesafetyof Tesla's products across Vehicles, Energy Products, and Robotics. Our teamis responsible forsimulating extreme real-world scenarios to inform the design of our products, with the goal of leading the industry in handling these conditions.

We'reseeking an experienced Engineer to join ourteam, whereyou'llinvestigate complex technical issues, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and inform design decisions to ensure thesafetyand robustness of Tesla's products.


What You'll Do
  • Study the properties of electrical failuresin battery packs andconduct root cause analysis,including scenarios such as short circuit events, and saltwater inhigh voltagesystems

  • Develop andvalidatemitigations toidentifiedissues and coordinate interdisciplinary product improvement implementations

  • Create experiments to push electrical systems to their limits

  • Develop internal standards and processes to continue to improve the safety of our products

  • Collaborate inthe designand manufacturingof future products


What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Fundamentals in electricalandthermal properties

  • 2+ years' experience in physicallyapplied-engineering

  • Ability to interact across a variety of groups collaboratively

  • Practical, hands-on, can-do attitude

  • Failure analysis experience a plus

  • Lithium ion / automotive / grid scale energy storage experience a plus

  • Approximately 5% expected travel

    $112,000 - $228,000/annual salary + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
