UST founded UST FinX in 2025 to liberate mid-tier financial institutions from the burdens of legacy technology with the least amount of pain, investing in a strong team to bring to market the first fully managed composable, best-of-breed cloud native banking platform. The Fintech model for the mid-tier banks is broken, great individual solutions, but costs and risks associated with a composable, non-integrated eco-system are too high. UST FinX was founded to solve this by taking on the risk and burden of owning the entire stack and be the single point of contact for our clients.

You Are:

A client-facing Software Solutions Architect with specific Core Banking & Legacy Systems/platform expertise (Community Banking/Credit Unions, U.S.), including Jack Henry, FIS and Fiserv to lead client-facing engagements across the community in banking and credit union segments. This role blends consulting, pre-sales, and delivery leadership, partnering with business and technology stakeholders to shape modern banking solutions, integrations, and transformation roadmaps that drive measurable outcomes.

The Opportunity:

  • Act as a trusted advisor who translates business objectives into scalable architecture, delivers compelling solution narratives in pre-sales cycles, and guides successful implementations while ensuring regulatory, security, and operational excellence.
  • Lead discovery, workshops, and architecture reviews with executives and SMEs across business, operations, risk/compliance, and IT.
  • Translate complex business needs (deposits, lending, payments, treasury, digital channels) into robust solution architectures and integration designs.
  • Develop transformation roadmaps for core modernization, digital enablement, and data strategy tailored to community banks and credit unions.
  • Partner with Sales to qualify opportunities, craft solution narratives, and differentiate offerings during RFI/RFP/proposal cycles.
  • Design and present value propositions: TCO models, ROI, risk mitigation, and implementation approaches.
  • Build demo storylines; coordinate POCs/Pilots; create solution collateral (arch diagrams, reference architectures, capability maps).
  • Define end-to-end architectures spanning legacy core systems (Jack Henry, FIS, Fiserv), integrations, APIs, digital banking, payments rails, cards, ACH/wires, and data/analytics.
  • Govern solution integrity across requirements, design, integration, testing, security, performance, and non-functional requirements (NFRs).
  • Support cross-functional teams (product, engineering, QA, security, data) in delivering milestones; unblock dependencies and manage technical risks.
    Integration & Modernization
  • Architect integrations to/from legacy cores, digital front ends, third-party fintechs, and reg-tech solutions (KYC/AML, fraud, IDV).
  • Guide strategies for core replacement vs. coexistence, event-driven architectures, and API-first modernization.
  • Recommend cloud adoption patterns (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS), resiliency, observability, and DevSecOps aligned to banking constraints.
  • Align solutions to regulatory expectations (FFIEC, FDIC, NCUA), data privacy (GLBA), and security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Ensure controls for identity & access, encryption, logging, auditability, and business continuity (DR/HA/RPO/RTO).
  • Serve as a key architectural point of contact for clients; build executive confidence and consensus.
  • Mentor teams; contribute to reusable assets, reference architectures, and best practices for the U.S. community & credit union sector.
  • Present at client forums and industry events; support partner relationships with core vendors and fintechs.

You Will Need:

  • At least 8 years of experience in solution architecture, consulting, or systems integration within banking/financial services.
  • Hands-on delivery or integration experience with Jack Henry (e.g., SilverLake, Core Director), FIS (e.g., Horizon, IBS), and/or Fiserv (e.g., Premier, Signature).
  • Strong understanding of retail/community banking products: deposits, lending (consumer/commercial), cards, payments, treasury, digital banking.
  • Expertise in integration patterns: REST/GraphQL APIs, messaging (Kafka/RabbitMQ), ETL/ELT, batch processing, file-based interfaces, and ESBs/iPaaS.
  • Familiarity with cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP), microservices, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and DevSecOps pipelines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (FFIEC/FDIC/NCUA), GLBA, KYC/AML, fraud management, and operational risk.
  • Proven pre-sales experience: RFI/RFP responses, solution scoping/estimating, demos, and executive presentations.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for business audiences.
  • Willingness to travel (25-50%) for client workshops, pre-sales engagements, and delivery milestones
  • Experience with modern core banking platforms, online/mobile banking, and omni-channel customer experience.
  • Background integrating fintechs (P2P, BNPL, real-time payments/RTP, open banking), document management, LOS, and servicing platforms.
  • Exposure to data platforms (data lakes/warehouses, MDM, analytics), real-time streaming, and reporting for regulatory and operational needs.
  • Familiarity with payments networks (Fedwire, ACH, RTP, card networks), ISO 20022, and NACHA rules.
  • Experience with enterprise security, IAM, PCI DSS, SOC 2, and zero-trust principles.
Advanced degree or relevant professional certifications.
  • Delivery Leadership: Governance, risk management, milestone ownership, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Communication & Facilitation: Executive presence, workshop facilitation, and conflict resolution.
  • Innovation & Modernization: API-first, event-driven, cloud adoption, and incremental core transformation.

Bonus Points If You Have any of these Certifications:

  • Cloud: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect - Professional, or GCP Professional Cloud Architect.
  • Security/Compliance: CISSP, CCSP, CISA.
  • Architecture: TOGAF, SAFe (for organizations using scaled agile), or Certified Enterprise Architect.
  • Banking/Payments: AAP, APRP, or equivalent industry credentials.
