A Chaplain Resident is enrolled in a Mercy Hospital Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program, designed for persons wanting to certify as professional chaplains or for persons who are seeking advanced training in spiritual care. Through the intense practice of ministry and reflection with peers, chaplain-mentors, preceptors and Certified Educator(s), CPE residents develop and practice skills for spiritual care in traditional, non-traditional, and institutional settings. CPE Residents' ministry includes patients, families, hospital personnel and larger community. The CPE program is accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE, Inc). ACPE is nationally recognized as an accrediting agency in the field of clinical pastoral education by the U.S. Secretary of Education through the U.S. Department of Education.
Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Position Details: Graduate theological degree or equivalent training that would lead to board certification as a chaplain in process or completed graduate degree in a related field.
