Summary: The Electrical Engineer will provide electrical engineering expertise with primary emphasis on electrical equipment to ensure reliable operation and perform project engineering functions as required for maintenance and improvement projects. This position will primarily support the Mont Belvieu Fracs and Terminals and its affiliated locations as well as other facilities as needed. The position will be located in Mont Belvieu, TX. Responsibilities:
- Provide electrical engineering support for maintenance and operations.
- Review ARC Flash Studies with ETAP or SKM Applications.
- Develop and Facilitate Electrical LOTO procedures.
- Work with equipment OEMs to resolve issues, perform overhauls and inspections, and review spare parts recommendations.
- Provide electrical engineering expertise in the troubleshooting and resolution of equipment failures, the selection and evaluation of equipment, and the operation of electrical equipment.
- Identify equipment bad actors by working closely with maintenance and operations, monitoring mean time between failures, and reviewing work order history and cost. Perform root cause analysis to identify solutions to eliminate chronic equipment problems.
- Evaluate, recommend, design, and implement modifications to equipment, procedures, and processes to improve the reliability or reduce the cost of the assets
- Develop, implement, and evaluate preventive maintenance programs
- Recommend and establish spare parts for new and existing equipment.
- Prepare equipment specifications and purchase requests.
- Maintain equipment repair records and logs - evaluate repair costs and trends.
- Assist in developing shutdown budget and scope.
- Assist in developing site annual budget for Operation & Maintenance and capital projects.
- Oversee major equipment repairs and overhauls.
- Evaluates / audits repair shops to ensure quality.
- Provide project engineering and management for small capital projects. This includes estimating and submitting projects for approval and management of the project through start-up and project closure.
- Control project costs by providing budget projections and maintaining a constant awareness of projects status in relation to approving budget.
- Instruct maintenance and operations personnel on new equipment and procedures as required.
- Assure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and operating permits.
- Actively participates in the site's Health, Environmental, Safety and Security (HESS) programs to assure a safe and environmentally sound workplace.
- Complete any additional responsibilities assigned by Management.
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of PSM and PHMSA 195 regulations
- Knowledgeable of ISA 84 and NFPA 70B & E
- Experience in a plant setting i.e., chemical plant, paper mill, electric power plant, etc.
- Electric power distribution experience
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 3-6+ years of industry experience in maintenance or related field.
- Excellent people skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
- Physical requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)

- Normal office working conditions and field work
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment will occur.
