Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Operations Manager (FGP) - Manhattan, Revenue Cycle Management.

In this role, the successful candidate will be reporting to the Director, Revenue Cycle, the Operations Manager, Revenue Cycle and will provide project management for implementations and optimization requests, coordinating discussion and timelines between revenue cycle leadership, internal MCIT departments and vendor teams to ensure successful, timely outcomes. Focus on improving efficiency in the revenue cycle and improving processes related to revenue cycle while ensuring that strategic business goals are met.

Job Responsibilities:

Project Management and Application Support:

  • Serve as subject matter expert in functional areas including hospital billing, understanding Epic Resolute and other system applications, set-ups, functionalities and impact of change on integration to minimize disruption in revenue cycle projects
  • Collaborate with management to translate operational needs into system updates to achieve optimal process improvements
  • Perform risk analysis and/or validation for changes and communicate to leadership when issues or changes arise that could adversely affect the strategic plan, make recommendations for project process improvement
  • Identify negative trends and correct them while analyzing the revenue cycle project to prevent any further discrepancies from occurring; anticipate impact and updates needed for implementations, upgrades and transitions
  • Plan and execute go-live support for implementations and identify training areas and communicate changes as needed

Policy and Compliance:

  • Working with the Director, create and maintain current policy and procedure documentation for workflows to allow changes to be communicated effectively to affected teams
  • Liaise with the internal IT department and vendors, ensure change requests and support items are organized, documented and resolved timely, escalating issues when needed

Miscellaneous:

  • Required to attend applicable revenue cycle, management and/or Epic training sessions; must be able to travel to NYU locations, Epic campus and another conference sites using efficient modes of transportation as needed; estimated travel 10-15%
  • Maintain current knowledge of Legislative and Industry changes that may affect the manner in which we conduct business or may affect the professional billing revenue cycle;
  • Thorough knowledge of billing requirements/regulations of the major third-party carriers

Patient Experience & Access

  • Drives consistency in every patient and colleague encounter by embodying the core principles of CARES (Connect, Align, Respond, Ensure, and Sign-Off)
  • Greets patients warmly and professionally, stating name and role, and clearly communicates each step of the care/interaction as appropriate
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues and site management to ensure a positive experience and timely resolution for all patient interactions and inquiries whether in person, by phone or via electronic messaging;
  • Proactively anticipates patient needs and participates in service recovery by applying the LEARN model (Listen, Empathize, Apologize, Resolve, Notify), and escalates to leadership as appropriate
  • Shares ideas or any observed areas of opportunity, to improve patient experience and patient access, with appropriate leadership. (i.e. ways to optimize provider schedules, how to minimize delays, increase employee engagement, etc.)
  • Partners with Patient Access Center and Revenue Cycle Operations team members to support collaboration and promote a positive patient experience
  • Takes a proactive approach in ensuring that practice staff are fully versed in the Access Agreement gold standard principles

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors' degree required, Masters degree strongly preferred, in business, computer science or healthcare administration. Three to five years minimum experience with hospital billing or related applications; strong understanding of hospital operations and finance and/or revenue cycle management experience; experience with IT systems used in medical management (Epic experience preferred) and experience with practice management system implementations (strongly preferred).
Excellent interpersonal skills; Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to multi-task and coordinate competing priorities; Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word or similar programs and excellent written and oral communication skills. Light, accurate keyboarding skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in business administration or healthcare administration or related field; 5-7 years of demonstrated responsible experience in a managerial role. Action-oriented, with experience managing deadlines and strength across a broad range of technical skills. Knowledge of project management tools, methods and best practice. Excellent written and oral communication skills applicable to a wide variety of audiences. Ability to exercise discretion, good independent judgement, and independent thinking in selecting the optimal course of action. Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, organizational, project management, customer service, analytical and problem solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,589.96 - $129,948.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
