Summary
Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties under general supervision and reports to a Laboratory Supervisor. Responsibilities include receiving, accessioning, centrifuging, and decanting patient specimens, as well as communicating with clinicians at the front window and over the phone. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions Assist with labeling, preservation, and fixation of specimens. Work closely with technologists to ensure specimens are processed accurately and in a timely manner. Monitor reagent and supply inventory. Organize patient specimens and assay worksheets or printouts for testing and technologist review. Use the laboratory information management system (LIMS) to upload documents and enter critical data or comments. Clean and maintain laboratory equipment. Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Experience Previous laboratory, healthcare and/or customer service experience 1-2 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Good interpersonal and communication skills so as to be able to interact effectively with individuals in the lab and the hospital. - Ability to multitask and work accurately under stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands. - Demonstrates excellent dependability, reliability, accuracy, prioritization ability, problem solving skills, customer service and teamwork.
