General Purpose

Safely and efficiently operate Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) insulated tank trailer to transport raw milk from depot to plant. Drive over variety of streets and rural access roads.

Job Duties and Responsibilities



  • Operate commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
  • Follow receiving schedule and directions from location supervisory personnel to move raw milk trailers
  • Take measures to minimize truck idle times and conserve fuel consumption
  • Complete driver logs, work completion reports and other reports as required
  • Verify proper documentation (Load number/Seal numbers/etc.) to validate load delivery and destination
  • Inspect truck and trailer for damage or broken equipment; promptly report damage or broken equipment
  • Disassemble, clean, and re-assemble trailer pumps to maintain proper cleanliness at a food grade level
  • Comply fully with all FDA regulations governing the sanitary loading, transport and unloading of product
  • Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
  • Use company supported applications or systems properly
  • Represent DFA positively and professionally during interactions with customers, or regulatory personnel

Education and Experience



  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2 or more years of tractor/trailer experience, within the last 5 years preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements
  • Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
  • Must meet all DOT requirements
  • Must maintain milk sampling permit
  • Certification and/or License - Current CDL (Class A) in state of residence; must have a tanker endorsement


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements
  • Skill in proficient computer usage
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Skills with math for calculating load size and recording accurate volume/weight measurements
  • Able to contribute to the positive performance behaviors through personal example
