About the Job

About the Job:
This post-doc will work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, scientists and engineers focusing on encapsulated cell-based therapies for the treatment of diabetes. This post-doc will lead the development of magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and imaging (MRI) methodologies and conduct non-invasive measurements of oxygen levels within encapsulation devices containing insulin secreting cells, both in vitro and in vivo, using custom-built 19F-MR methods and equipment.

Responsibilities:
90% MR Technical Development Work
* Become proficient at programming the digital magnetic resonance spectrometer (DMRS)
* Optimize and validate MR techniques to measure pO2 in encapsulated devices
* Perform data acquisition in experiments assessing pO2 in encapsulated devices
* Develop pipelines for data analysis
* Implement and optimize novel pO2 imaging using radiofrequency (RF) spatial-encoding

10% Office Admin
* Write manuscripts for publication
* Write research progress reports
* Prepare research presentations

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.

Required Qualifications:
* PhD in Biomedical Engineering
* At least 3 Years of research experience in MRI methods development
* Experience programming and operating MRI system
* Excellent communication - written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience creating customized MRI acquisition methods
* Experience in quantitative MRI techniques
* Programming skills in MATLAB and Python
* Ability to present research effectively through both writing and speaking
* Publication history

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $62,232.00 - 75,564.00; NIH stipend levels by experience
