SUMMARY:
Coordinate the work of Registration Representatives, through scheduling, monitoring and assisting, to ensure accurate and timely patient registrations. Prepare monthly statistical reporting and coordinate various projects as needed. Orient new employees to the computer system and selected shift procedures. In the absence of the Registration Coordinator, assume responsibility for the department on a rotating basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates activities of Patient Access Representatives. Ensures appropriate coverage of all areas to ensure continuous workflow to support patient processing, to meet the needs of patients and the department in an accurate, timely manner.Assists Patient Access Representatives with complex and/or sensitive work related issues in dealing with patients, families, primary care physicians, third party payers and other department clinical staff.Resolves daily registration issues for department staff and ancillary departments. Informs Supervisor of problems or potential problems related to staffing, coordination of work or other issues within the department and ensures practices comply with departmental policies and procedures. Provides input regarding performance evaluation of patient access staff.Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.Schedules assigned staff to provide adequate coverage of department, including all shifts.Reassigns personnel daily as needed to cover for absences and other unexpected occurrences.Participates in the interview process and recommends selection of Patient Access Representatives.Assumes responsibility for the department's operational issues in the Supervisor's absence.Maintains open lines of communication among staff.Communicates changes in regulations, policies and procedures prior to implementation encouraging input and feedback.Orients new employees to departmental procedures and computer systems.Serves as a resource to the Patient Access staff for complex or difficult problems or situations.Performs all functions of Patient Access Representative.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications: Demonstrated leadership skills to effectively coordinate activities with staff, able to prioritize and assign work to ensure timely completion. High school graduate or equivalent. Knowledge of medical terminology, third party insurance information and standard office computer applications.EXPERIENCE:Minimum of two years prior experience in patient registration or third party billing in an automated medical billing environment. Excellent customer relations and organizational skills, knowledge of third party insurance requirements, and experience with computer systems and cash collections.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSitting for long periods of time at workstation requiring the continuous use of a computer and telephone. May have to do moderate walking, depending on location of the assignment. Ability to lift up to ten pounds.INDEPENDENT ACTION:Incumbent establishes own work plan and prioritizes to assure timely completion as assigned, working conformance with department policies and practices; problems lacking clear precedent may be reviewed with supervisor prior to taking action.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None.

Pay Range:

$19.97-$32.96
