Estimator - Natural Gas Infrastructure & Heavy Civil Construction San Antonio, TX | Relocation Assistance Available Full-Time | On-Site
If you're an estimator who thrives on large, complex construction projects and wants real influence over how work is won and executed, this role is for you. We're seeking an Estimator with proven experience in natural gas infrastructure and heavy civil construction to lead estimating efforts on high-value projects. This position plays a key role as the company expands beyond traditional municipal work into heavy industrial, water/wastewater, underground electric, fiber, and dry utilities. You'll collaborate closely with operations and engineering leadership, shaping bids, identifying risk, and delivering smart, competitive pricing on projects $50M+.
What You'll Do
- Lead the full estimating lifecycle for natural gas infrastructure and heavy civil projects, from takeoffs through bid submission
- Develop accurate, competitive estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and risk
- Partner with project managers and engineers to confirm scope and identify value-engineering opportunities
- Review plans, specifications, and contracts to produce detailed cost models
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies
- Stay current on labor, material, and market trends
- Build and maintain strong subcontractor and vendor relationships
- Support post-bid reviews and seamless handoff to project teams
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of construction estimating experience
- 5+ years estimating projects valued at $50M+
- 5+ years in heavy civil construction (utilities, grading, roadways, DOT, municipal)
- Strong experience with natural gas infrastructure (distribution systems, end-user infrastructure)
- Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, and/or Agtek
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
