Hourly Pay Range:

$42.54 - $65.94 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Manager, Facilities and Engineering

  • Location: Edward Hospital - Naperville, IL

  • Full Time, 40 hours weekly

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:30pm

  • On call required: 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off

  • Required Travel: none

A Brief Overview:
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all Edward Hospital physical plants, equipment, buildings and grounds. Ensures proper maintenance of buildings including plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, carpentry, painting and plant operations, ensures clean and attractive campus grounds, and ensures testing and repair of all non-clinical equipment. Manages the planning and scheduling of facilities department operations, maintenance, renovation projects, and new construction activities. Oversees JCAHO compliance as it pertains to the Environment of Care.

What you will do:

  • Under minimal supervision manages work of subordinate personnel and contractors engaged in maintaining and repairing EHHS buildings, grounds and equipment and operating and maintaining plant equipment.

  • Implements policies and procedures for the inspection, evaluation and method of repair to buildings and equipment, operation of corporate plant facilities, repair and maintenance of non-clinical equipments, and maintain compliance with JCAHO, local, state, and federal requirements.

  • Implements various routine and emergency maintenance programs in order to meet regulatory requirements and system wide organizational immediate and long-term needs.

  • Develops and monitors budgets. Ensures adherence to budgets, notifies Director of Facilities of significant variances, and initiates corrective actions as appropriate to maintain positive variances to budget.

  • Interviews, hires, orients, trains, evaluates the performances of and, when necessary, disciplines and/or discharges department personnel.

  • Provides direction, as necessary, to staff regarding sensitive and/or complex work, related problems, resolves complaints and responds to inquires regarding department operations. Assists in resolving complex employee relations problems.

  • Coordinates the work of external architects, contractors and engineers engaged in renovating Hospital campus and corporation buildings.

  • Ensures work performed by external resources is completed in accordance with signed contractual agreements.

  • Prepares various maintenance reports for Director such as project status reports, repair schedules, cost estimates, overruns and projected completion dates.

  • Communicates regularly with personnel affected by buildings or grounds projects to minimize adverse affects on the daily activities during maintenance of electrical systems, non-clinical equipment, heating and cooling systems, and related system shut downs.

  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars and assigned on-going training sessions annually.

  • Provides technical support for engineering/operations/maintenance issues.

  • Participates in hospital design, construction, and renovations throughout the hospital and health care facilities.

  • Acts as administrator resource for computerized work order system.

  • Implements staff training programs.

  • Determines contract specifications and negotiates terms.

  • Manages special projects as required; researches scope of project, assigns resources, and monitors progress of staff.

  • Compiles and analyzes data. Prepares and processes special and recurring reports and administrative records.

  • Participates in hospital committees as assigned by the Director.

What you will need:

  • High School Required

  • 5+ Years of previous facilities and engineering supervisory experience

  • A valid driver's license is required if the incumbent is selected to perform related duties at an off site location. If the incumbent uses their personal vehicle, the incumbent must maintain automobile liability coverage as required by law and evidence of such coverage may be requested.
