Summary:

The Medical Group Registrar position at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, New Mexico, is an exciting opportunity to be the welcoming face and essential first step in each patient's care journey. In this role, you'll coordinate the entire registration process with accuracy and confidence-collecting and entering key information, supporting claim billing, handling copays and financial arrangements, and ensuring services are seamlessly coordinated. Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the customer registration process. Ensures the accurate collection of patient demographics, insurance information and verification of insurance eligibility. Collects identified patient financial obligation, arrange method of payment, or resolves account according to standard protocols.
  • Answer telephones, takes complete and accurate message and relays information to appropriate party to support operational aspects of patient care. . Able to answer questions regarding hospital and departmental operations, policies and procedures.
  • Retrieves information from files as requested and assembles paperwork and reference material as requested by patients or providers. Responsible for following HIPAA confidentiality guidelines while performing all duties. Responsible for responding to requests within the scope of the job to include mailing or faxing material to PHS departments and other appropriate facilities.
  • Maintains and fosters effective customer relations with patients, providers and customers by listening, responding, and documenting customer phone and walk-in complaints. Attempts to appropriately resolve complaints in the moment by using key words at key times. Ability to manage conflict and appropriately request the help of a supervisor when needed.
  • Enters referrals into EPIC to support patient care. Ensures accurate and timely compilation and maintenance of medical record documentation. May act as a liaison with the business office to successfully resolve billing issues and support collection of patient account balances per established guideline.
  • Willingness to participate with cross functional teams to improve office operations and customer satisfaction.
  • May be responsible for opening and distributing mail.
  • Attend monthly meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 9 months of work experience in office, healthcare, or customer service environment is required.
  • Must pass EPIC competency for Registration or Scheduling within 90 days of hire.
