Position Summary: Responsible for providing chemical dependency services to patients under the supervision of the Manager - Chemical Dependency Services from the ages of 5-65+ that are congruent with the philosophy and standards of practice.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintains medical record documentation that includes CD assessments and related documents. Attends and participates in staff report
  • Interacts with patients in a purposeful and goal-directed manner. Interacts therapeutically with patients and demonstrates and understanding of basic principles of human behavior
  • Verbalizes and demonstrates and awareness of the influences of behavior and personality of self and other staff on patient's progress
  • Presents lectures and leads groups as assigned
  • Conducts and documents family/outside agency meetings in a timely manner according to medical records requirements
  • Documents a summary of patient's progress in achieving goals and objectives weekly and at time of discharge
  • Keeps information related to patient's identity, history, and course of treatment confidential
  • Observes patient's behavior and promptly detects behavior that may result in injury to patient and others
  • Performs interventions according to care plans, as delegated by the RN
  • Observes changes in patients' behavior and health condition and reports to RN
  • Performs patient care procedures, such as vital signs, specimen collection, with technical skill, accuracy, and in a supportive manner
  • Performs and ensures admission procedures are carried out efficiently and in a supportive manner. Collects pertinent data for patient assessment
  • Interacts with patients in a purposeful and goal-directed manner. Interacts therapeutically with patients and demonstrates and understanding of basic principles of human behavior

Qualifications

Education and License

  • High School Diploma, required
  • Bachelor's Degree in human services or related field, preferred
  • Certified Addictions Counselor Level I or II
  • Current CPR/BLS

Experience and Skills

  • Three or more years of experience in menta/behavioal health as an addictions counselor
  • Experience facilitation clinical/SUD groups and providing sound therapeutic interventions
  • Working knowledge of community-based support groups; and providing direct service
  • Experience with treatment plans, hospital admission procedures, and orientating new patients
  • Effectively communicates with patients, family members and clinical staff
  • Experience using an Electronic Medical Record
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom and CRISP
