Position Summary
The YMCA of Central New Mexico is seeking a dependable,
organized, and service-minded Work-Study Executive Assistant to support
the Executive Director of the Horn Family YMCA. This role is designed
specifically for a work-study student and focuses on foundational
administrative support, organization, and coordination tasks that help keep
branch operations running smoothly.
This position offers hands-on professional experience in a
nonprofit, community-based organization while allowing flexibility around
academic commitments. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented,
professional, and aligned with the YMCA's mission and values.

Essential Functions

Administrative & Executive Support

Assist
with calendar coordination, scheduling meetings, and reserving meeting
spaces.
Help
prepare meeting materials such as agendas, sign-in sheets, and printed
documents.
Support
the Executive Director with basic administrative tasks and special
projects.
Greet
visitors and assist with directing questions or communications as needed.
Maintain
organized digital and physical filing systems.

Meetings, Events & Communication
Assist
with meeting and event setup, including room setup, supplies, and light
refreshments.
Help
track RSVPs, prepare materials, and support day-of logistics for staff
meetings and events.
Assist
with internal communications such as calendars, announcements, and flyers.

Office & Branch Support
Help
order and organize office supplies and ensure shared spaces are tidy and
stocked.
Assist
with updating staff directories, contact lists, and organizational charts.
Provide
basic administrative support to branch departments as assigned.
Assist
with staff appreciation activities and internal events.

Learning & Professional Development
Learn
YMCA systems, policies, and administrative processes through hands-on
experience.
Shadow
leadership and participate in meetings as appropriate for educational
development.
Gain
exposure to nonprofit operations, leadership, and community engagement.

Culture & Mission
Model
YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Support
a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment for staff and
members.
Demonstrate
reliability, professionalism, and a willingness to help where needed.

Work Schedule
Part-time,
work-study eligible hours
Schedule
coordinated around academic commitments
Occasional
flexibility for special events (not required)

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications

Current
enrollment in an approved college or university work-study program (required).
Interest
in nonprofit administration, business, leadership, communications, or a
related field.
Strong
organizational skills and attention to detail.
Basic
proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willingness to
learn YMCA systems.
Clear
written and verbal communication skills.
Ability
to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and reliability.
Positive
attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to follow direction.
Ability
to work independently on assigned tasks after training.
Ability
to interact respectfully with staff, members, and community partners.
Flexible
availability that accommodates academic schedules.

Required Certifications
CPR and
First Aid certification within 30 days of hire (training provided if
needed)
