The CO+I Energy Analytics team builds data platforms and insights that support Microsoft's global datacenter growth and sustainability goals.

We work across the CO+I Energy Team to translate complex energy data into trusted, actionable insights that inform decisions at scale. Our work helps the Energy Team plan, operate, and optimize responsibly as Microsoft continues to grow its cloud footprint worldwide and solidify its leadership in providing infrastructure for the global AI economy.

As an Energy Analytics Program Manager, you will be focused ondeveloping thebusinessanalytics and actionableinsightsrequiredtooperateand scale one of the world's largest corporate energy portfolios.A successfulcandidate will havea strongunderstandingof theutilityindustry,energymarkets, and regulatedelectricityrates.Theywill have the ability tocoordinate dataacross internal and external platforms,collaborate with cross-functionalteams toidentifyanalytical needs,andconveydata-driven storytelling totechnical and nontechnical audiences.They will bring an innovative, collaborative presence to the roletoenableenergy analytics to scale with confidence as our portfolio grows, helping the businessrealizegrowthgoals, lower costs, and meet sustainability targets.This role willprovidethecandidate witha unique opportunity to join a high impact team and gain exposure tobusiness-critical topics ofenergy markets and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Data Analysis & Insight Generation:Conduct comprehensive analyses to address business challenges, accurately interpret findings within their context, and provide actionable recommendations. Utilize advanced statistical methods and financial modeling to quantify operational impacts and inform strategic decision-making.

  • Orchestration and Collaboration:Works within and across teams to deepenexpertisein data sources, methodologies, analytical tools and processes, and business and client needs, tofacilitaterelevant insight generation, reporting, and interpretation. Engages stakeholders toidentifyand act on opportunities toleverageresources and solutions that were instrumental to success in similar contexts, and consults across teams on decisions related to analyses, insights reporting, and/or their interpretations.

  • Synthesizing Information:Gathers analyses, reports, and process knowledge to createsynthesizedset of plans related to operations as directed by senior leadership. Provides insights forenergy supplies and demandsby orchestratingcross-functional inputs.

  • Data Quality and Control:Identifiesappropriate typesof data and/or metrics to address specific business needs. Evaluates dataintegrity andapplicability toansweringparticular businessquestions,identifiesgaps and/or quality issues in data with data providers, and escalates issues accordingly.

  • DataPrivacyand Governance:Adheres to data privacy and security requirements, responsible and ethical data handling and AI practices, and classification and governance rules and regulations. Ensures data have undergoneappropriate Corporate, Executive, and Legal Affairs (CELA) reviews and that work products are in alignment with principles and controls and is aware of where to seek furtherexpertiseon data privacy and security rules and regulations when needed.

  • Coordinatewith Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with data scientists,program managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliveranalysesthat meet business needs.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 2+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 5+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR equivalent experience.

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Sourcing Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
