Company Overview A rapidly expanding, private-equity-backed industrial organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team. The company partners with large manufacturers to deliver custom-engineered solutions and continues to scale through organic growth and frequent acquisitions. This role offers strong visibility, exposure to leadership, and hands-on involvement in complex accounting initiatives, systems integration, and M&A activity. Role Overview The Senior Accountant will serve as a key contributor within the accounting function, supporting accurate financial reporting, close processes, and business decision-making. This position works closely with cross-functional leaders and plays an important role in strengthening financial infrastructure as the organization grows. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules Lead portions of the monthly and annual close, including entries, reconciliations, and analysis Perform detailed variance and trend analysis for management review Support incentive and commission calculations and related accounting Manage sales and use tax compliance and reporting processes Assist with acquisition accounting, post-close integration, and policy alignment Partner with external auditors during financial and compliance reviews Enhance internal controls, documentation, and accounting procedures Monitor evolving accounting standards and ensure ongoing compliance Collaborate with operations, sales, and leadership teams to support business initiatives Provide financial insights for special projects and strategic initiatives Drive continuous improvement in reporting, systems, and workflows Support executive-level and board-level reporting materials Preferred Background 2+ years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate or public environment Strong foundation in GAAP and financial reporting principles Experience supporting complex or project-based operations is a plus Prior exposure to ERP platforms and system implementations preferred Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders High ownership mindset with strong attention to detail Core Competencies Sound judgment supported by data and analysis Proactive problem-solving and solution-oriented thinking Strong organizational and planning capabilities Accountability for results and continuous learning Ability to navigate ambiguity and evolving priorities Logical and structured approach to complex issues Collaborative and relationship-focused working style Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance CPA or CMA preferred but not required Public accounting experience strongly valued Demonstrated financial analysis and reporting capabilities Authorized to work in the United States Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
