How would you like to lead the charge in transforming how customers experience television? As Director of Video Platforms Development at Spectrum, you'll guide a talented team to innovate and deliver next-generation enhancements for Spectrum TV. Partnering across multiple disciplines, you'll drive impactful solutions that shape the future of entertainment and strengthen Spectrum's connection with its customers.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Guide cross-functional teams to define business requirements and collaborate with product and integration partners to enhance the Spectrum TV customer experience
  • Champion the video roadmap and drive collaboration with Software Engineering, Advanced Engineering, Video Operations and third-party vendors to achieve strategic business objectives
  • Oversee all aspects of front-end software development for Spectrum TV across numerous connected TV platforms, leveraging a React-based technology stack.

  • Lead the development, implementation and launch of new products and features, boosting customer engagement, revenue and market reach for Spectrum's video platform
  • Deliver projects using agile methodologies, fostering continuous learning and iteration to optimize outcomes
  • Develop and mentor a high-performance front-end development and technical leadership team, introducing effective processes and procedures for enterprise application environments
  • Identify and drive key customer experience metrics, ensuring the health and performance of the video platform aligns with business goals

What You'll Bring to Spectrum

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Computer Science; master's degree or equivalent experience preferred, but not required

Experience

  • 8+ years of product development and management experience in telecommunications, software or web services or other related industries

Skills

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Possess a deep technical knowledge of client-side and API development
  • Experience retaining, managing, and growing talented team to deliver high quality digital products in very aggressive timeframes
  • Knowledge of architecture, design and performance optimization of traditional and IP video streaming technologies
  • Experience managing internal and external vendors and customers to meet deadlines and initiatives
  • Data driven decision making and strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across a broad application portfolio simultaneously and prioritize and organize effectively and quickly to meet changing demands
  • Adaptability to manage through project priority and organizational changes
  • Ability to problem solve without escalation or with thoughtful recommendation when escalated
  • Ability to motivate, and manage cross-functional teams, influencing peers and leaders
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and electronically with multiple levels of management
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills including use of Outlook, Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with HTTP adaptive streaming technologies, such as HLS, DASH, and Smooth Streaming
  • Expert knowledge of industry standard development tools and processes (JIRA, git, stash, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience developing and architecting React-based TypeScript and/or JavaScript applications.
    • Understanding of Redux-based state management.
  • Experience managing front-end or full-stack engineering teams.
  • Exposure to video streaming technologies and their implementations, ideally in a web-based environment.
    • Experience with video players such as Shaka.
  • Experience delivering applications on platforms such as LG TV, Vizio TV, Samsung TV, Chromecast, Xbox, and/or Desktop browser.
  • Experience in monitoring and making customer-centric quality and mitigation recommendations for high-touchpoint, customer-facing applications.
  • Experience with OpenSearch and/or Athena.

The base pay for this position generally is between $124,000.00 and $220,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
