MAINFRAME DEVELOPMENT & TRANSFORMATION LEAD

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY - We are seeking a forward-thinking technology leader to drive a strategic transformation of our mission-critical mainframe environment (COBOL, CICS, Batch, VSAM) that powers our manufacturing and testing operations.

You will define the vision, roadmap, and execution strategy for transitioning legacy systems into resilient, supportable, scalable, modern architectures.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE MAINFRAME DEVELOPMENT & TRANSFORMATION LEAD

  • Develop and champion a comprehensive modernization vision.
  • Build and maintain a multi-year transformation roadmap.
  • Improve documentation and supportability (short-term).
  • Assess existing mainframe systems for modernization opportunities.
  • Lead modernization initiatives (replatforming, refactoring, rewriting).
  • Guide COBOL/CICS conversion to modern languages.
  • Leverage Generative AI based modernization tools.
  • Enable the mainframe to be capable of modern tools for development
  • Define target-state data architecture including VSAM migration.
  • Introduce modern engineering practices.
  • Mentor teams and drive organizational enablement.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED FOR THE MAINFRAME DEVELOPMENT & TRANSFORMATION LEAD

  • 4-year college degree required.
  • 10+ years mainframe experience required.
  • Demonstrated success leading modernization initiatives required.
  • Experience with modernization tooling and accelerators required.
  • Strong architectural and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
