This position will be onsite in Bethesda, MD.

Position Overview

The Logistics Lead (ILMT) supports the Senior Logistics Manager in planning, directing, and managing daily material flow operations. This role oversees inventory control, inbound and outbound shipments, transportation coordination, and team alignment to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective supply chain performance.

The Logistics Lead serves as a key liaison between sales, procurement, customers, vendors, and carriers while leveraging data, systems, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

    Plan and coordinate daily logistics and material flow activities

  • Oversee inventory management and control processes

  • Manage inbound and outbound shipments, including carrier scheduling and route optimization

  • Support transportation coordination and carrier/vendor alignment

  • Optimize schedules using the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) to ensure requirements are met

  • Monitor KPIs and logistics performance metrics; identify trends and improvement opportunities

  • Conduct data analysis to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve workflow processes

  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards

  • Support warehouse and ERP/WMS system operations and accuracy

  • Serve as a cross-functional liaison with sales, procurement, engineering, customers, and suppliers

  • Lead problem resolution related to shipments, inventory discrepancies, and transportation issues

  • Assist with cost management and supply chain efficiency initiatives

  • Support team coordination and provide operational leadership within the logistics function



Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD, 12 years in lieu of degree
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a public trust clearance
  • Experience in logistics planning and supply chain operations management

  • Knowledge of inventory management and material control practices

  • Experience overseeing inbound/outbound shipping operations

  • Familiarity with transportation coordination and route optimization

  • Experience working with carriers, vendors, and customer logistics requirements

  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

  • Experience tracking KPIs and using performance data for decision-making

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet schedule requirements

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Knowledge of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in logistics operations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting complex or technical programs

  • Background in cost optimization initiatives

  • Experience in cross-functional operational environments

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
