CNC Programmer

This position is responsible for optimizing programs for CNC machines (multi-axis mills & lathes) to produce precision parts from various materials based on customer specifications and engineering models. This role requires expertise in reading blueprints, using CAM works or Mastercam software, documenting setup instructions, troubleshooting production issues, working with ERP system, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met throughout the manufacturing process. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Interpret blueprints and customer requirements to plan and program CNC machining
• Revise existing CNC programs to improve quality and/or productivity
• Determine how to manufacture parts from drawings & solid models
• Use CAM software to create and modify machine tool paths and generate accurate programs for CNC machines. Determine appropriate cutting tools & holders needed for the CNC programs.
• Collaborate with the team to refine processes, including tool and fixture design
• Assist operators to troubleshoot or improve programs for productivity and quality outcomes
• Maintain accurate documentation, such as process travelers, program files, setup sheets, inspection plans, and revision history to support repeatability and quality control
• Perform or oversee first article inspection for new jobs, and ensure all finished parts meet tolerances and client specifications
• Train machine operators on new programs and procedures as needed

Skills/Experience:

• Proficiency in CNC programming using CAM and understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Strong knowledge of interpreting blueprints, geometric dimensioning and material characteristics.
• Experience with CNC machine setup and operation, as well as manual machining.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to troubleshoot issues and meet production deadlines
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
• Ability to use inspection tools and understand technical documentation
• Good math, technical and computer skills
• Recordkeeping and reporting proficiency
• Communication and time management skills
• Physical dexterity and stamina may be needed for production floor duties
