Job Purpose

To supervise Substation operations, maintenance, and construction teams within our electric utility.

Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure mely review of construcon designs, plans, construcon schedules and other requirements to meet business plan goals, and construcon schedules required to meet the customer need dates.
  • Interfaces externally with major Industrial and Commercial customers as well as relevant external stakeholders.
  • Supervises direct reports in their response to system outages and conngencies.
  • Movates, counsels, coaches, and develops direct reports and others; establish clearly defined goals and standards of divisional employee performance.
  • Ensure proper administraon of the labor agreement and all safety and human resource policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain effecve communicaons with Union Leadership and all department employees.
Qualifications

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Effecve planning, leadership, communicaon, and supervisory skills.
  • Assist with the personal development, coaching and mentoring of junior team members.
  • Ability to work off-hours and on call rotaons. This includes requiring travel outside the division for emergency assignments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with specialized training in basic electricity and electric theory, naonal applicaon standards and job-related experience -OR- knowledge equivalent to that acquired through compleon of a two year technical school plus addional specialized training with 4 years qualifying experience.
  • Technically proficient within subject maer with some experience leading a team involved in operaons and maintenance.
  • Ability to gain a working knowledge of tools and systems within designated area.
  • Knowledge of Substaon electrical equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, switches, instrument transformers, metering equipment, voltage regulaon and power quality and applying OSHA standards.
  • High voltage electrical safety rules, SMPs, EOPs, and industry best pracces and work methods.
  • Must qualify for Authorized Persons List to coordinate and iniate switching acvies within and across various operaons teams.
  • Ability to accurately interpret Substaon one lines, specificaon sheets, prints, schemacs, diagrams and instrucons informaon to construct, maintain and troubleshoot effecvely.
  • Possess valid driver's license with safe driving record.
  • Must qualify for Naonal Grid's Clearance and Controls Authorized persons list.
  • Knowledge of all applicable EOPs related to underground or overhead line construcon including OSHA 1910.269
