The Optum Bank Risk Review Sr. Analyst will be responsible for participating in medium to large-scale risk review engagements to help support the execution of the Optum Bank risk review plan. This role reports to the Director of Risk Review and works with Bank stakeholders to complete review engagements focused on risk management processes. The incumbent will effectively document and communicate review fieldwork and findings. The Risk Review Sr. Analyst will work with the Risk Review team to define review scopes, perform process walkthroughs to assess the adequacy of key controls and develop/perform testing to assess control effectiveness. Reviews will include assessments of adherence with established policies, procedures and regulatory guidance. Key stakeholders include Credit Risk, Investments/Treasury, Finance/Accounting, Operations and Vendor/Affiliate Management.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute risk reviews across key business units within the Bank to help identify control gaps across enterprise risk management and operational control environments
  • Develop/update review workpapers used to complete risk reviews
  • Perform walkthroughs of risk management processes/controls with process owners
  • Independently assess the accuracy and timeliness of credit risk ratings and impairment reserves
  • Participate in the preparation of reports summarizing conclusions, findings and corrective action plans for business owners and senior management
  • Provide effective challenge to existing risk management methodologies, policies and procedures
  • Participate in the management of follow up corrective action plans
  • Assist in documentation and updates of Risk Review policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders

  • Ability to interpret governmental regulations, regulatory guidelines and manuals, and recommend appropriate policies and procedures to ensure compliance

  • Must be able to appropriately prioritize time and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or related field
  • 3+ years of experience working in a bank or other financial institution with duties focused on credit reviews, process reviews/audits, internal audit, credit risk management, enterprise risk management, and/or bank balance sheet management
  • 3+ years of experience working with bank risk management regulatory guidelines
  • 3+ years of experience with a functional background in finance and accounting
  • 3+ years of review work experience
  • Willing or ability to travel 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with commercial, consumer and/or small business lending/credit risk management
  • Experience with Commercial Real Estate lending
  • Experience with CCAR and capital stress testing processes
  • Experience with loss forecasting, balance sheet and liquidity models
  • Experience working in healthcare finance and/or healthcare deposits
  • Experience performing internal audit/credit reviews in a banking environment
  • Experience providing audit/consulting work for regulated banks
  • Bank regulatory experience or experience in assisting with regulatory examinations
  • Experience in developing/deploying detailed assessment data reports using programs such as Power BI, Power Query, Power Pivot, Excel, macros/VBA, MS Access, etc.
  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate and work with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven ability to communicate with impact and build consensus

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
