IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION CANDIDATE MUST BE SERVING PERMANENTLY IN THE STOCK WORKER TITLE, OR BE REACHABLE ON THE CIVIL SERVICE LIST, EXAM # 2100.

The Stock Worker is responsible for receiving, storing, organizing, and distributing mailroom and storehouse related materials and supplies. This includes assisting with the processing of incoming and outgoing mail, maintaining stock and storage areas, and ensuring the timely delivery of mail and supplies to various departments and offices.

Job Responsibilities:
-Receive, unpack, and inspect incoming storehouse supplies, packages, and materials; check against invoices or packing slips and report any discrepancies or damage.
-Sort, count, weigh, and store mailroom supplies and materials in designated storage areas.
-Load and unload deliveries at the facility and designated delivery points; may travel between buildings or off-site locations as needed.
-Pick and prepare storehouse stock and supplies to fulfill internal requisitions.
-Operate equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, mail carts, and lift trucks in the transport of materials.
-Monitor supply levels and notify supervisor when inventory needs restocking.
-Maintain accurate records and assist in conducting physical inventories.
-Deliver mailroom stock or parcels to various locations as required.
-Assist with special mail deliveries, urgent packages, and large-volume mail handling.
-Perform other related duties as assigned.

There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position.

Preferred Skills

-Experience in stock handling, inventory, or mailroom operations.
-Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 70 lbs).
-Basic computer literacy and the ability to maintain records.
-Good organizational and communication skills.
-Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
