Overview

Myriad Genetics, Inc. (NSYE: MYGN) is looking for a Staff Accountant focusing on Cost Accounting to join our Corporate Accounting team. This position will assist with the monthly costing close processes including the preparation of journal entries, performance of closing tasks, and compilation of account reconciliations. You will assist with review and analysis of costing results and gross margin, with focus on evaluating and investigating variances, to ensure compliance with US GAAP. We are looking for a strong communicator to collaborate closely with the accounting team as well as Operations and IT teams and others throughout Myriad to improve costing processes and analysis.

Responsibility
  1. Contribute to and improve the efficiency of the monthly close processes within Oracle while meeting the Company deadlines determined for financial reporting by delivering accurate, timely and efficient accounting processes including preparation of month-end and quarter-end close activities, and fluctuation analysis with focus on details and drive for continuous improvements.

  2. Prepare and record asset, liability, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.

  3. Complete balance sheet account reconciliations and ensure balances are accurately stated in accordance with GAAP, statutory, and company policies.

  4. Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting related to costing and inventory, and other ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed.

  5. Assist the Accounting Manager with maintaining cost accounting and inventory schedules and recording related transactions.

  6. Coordinate with lab personnel to ensure costing and receiving processes are completed accurately, and timely.

  7. Update inventory item costs periodically with input from Procurement, Operations, and Accounts Payable to maintain accurate inventory valuations and gross margin results.

  8. Coordinate and support monthly cycle counts, quarterly and annual full physical inventory counts, review for obsolete inventory, and ensure discrepancies are resolved.

  9. Support ERP and technology initiatives.

Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting required.

  2. 2+ years of experience in accounting.

  3. Experience using Microsoft Office Products, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  4. Ability to learn necessary computer programs quickly and efficiently.

  5. Ability to follow established policies and procedures to complete assignments with a high level of accuracy.

  6. Superior professional demeanor with strong organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements - light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, pushing or pulling, and reaching. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
