SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Clinical Program Manager RN - Informatics, the Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Informatics Manager serves as a clinical informatics expert, bridging nursing practice, technology, and education. This role supports the design, optimization, and integration of informatics solutions that enhance clinical workflows, improve data integrity, and advance patient care outcomes across Brown University Health.

In addition, the NPD Informatics Manager provides system-level oversight of the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring its accuracy, usability, and alignment with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational education requirements. The role partners closely with NPD Education Managers, NPD Education Specialists, IT, HR, and leadership to maintain a reliable, userfriendly LMS environment; support nursing assignments and analytics; and streamline systemwide education processes.

As a key member of the leadership team, the NPD Informatics Manager applies evidence-based practice, adult learning principles, and data-driven insight to advance nursing excellence, promote Brown University Health's mission of "Delivering health with care" and guide actions that support Brown University Health's values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Informatics: Optimizes clinical workflows and documentation systems to improve safety, efficiency, and data quality. Collaborates with frontline staff and leaders to identify workflow gaps, translate practice needs into technical requirements, and support adoption of new tools and processes.

Supports implementation, testing, and evaluation of informatics solutions-including EHR enhancements, decision-support tools, and data dashboards. Provides just-in-time education and coaching to promote effective use of technology at the point of care.

Translates evidencebased practice and regulatory requirements into clinical informatics workflows. Participates in system-wide initiatives to standardize documentation, reduce variation, and improve clinical quality outcomes.

LMS: Coordinates LMS management for Nursing Education and system-wide learning activities. Ensures accuracy of course assignments, curriculum structures, regulatory/compliance modules, competencies, and reporting.

Partners with IT, HR, and education leaders to maintain a fully functional and user-friendly LMS environment, supporting upgrades, troubleshooting, and workflow improvements.

Creates and maintains system dashboards, analytics, and data reports used for regulatory readiness, leadership oversight, and process improvement. Ensures education records meet accreditation and regulatory requirements.

Education & Professional Development Support: Collaborates with Nursing Professional Development (NPD) practitioners to design and deliver education using informatics tools, simulations, and digital learning strategies. Applies adult learning principles and innovative modalities to improve knowledge transfer and learner engagement.

Supports onboarding and competency programs through the integration of informatics resources, data reporting, and LMS functionality.

Quality, Data, and Continuous Improvement: Uses data and metrics to evaluate usability, identify trends, measure learning impact, and inform improvement projects.

Participates in system committees, quality assessments, and interdisciplinary teams to advance practice standards, enhance digital literacy, and promote evidence-based technology solutions.

Interviews for new hires/transfers and selects applicants in collaboration with Nurse Managers. Mentors and coaches clinical teams to support retention, staff engagement, and professional growth, while implementing initiatives that improve job satisfaction and workforce stability.

Evaluates staff in collaboration with Nurse Managers.

Collaboration & Change Management: Acts as a change agent by anticipating barriers to adoption of new technologies, developing mitigation strategies, and supporting end-user transition.

Strengthens interprofessional relationships, collaborating with clinical, operational, and technical teams to support successful implementation of new workflows, education programs, and practice standards.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's in Nursing, Informatics, Education, Healthcare Informatics, or related field preferred.

Current RN license in applicable state(s); in good standing.

BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS certification and AHA instructor certification(s) preferred. Nursing Informatics, NPD specialty or other professional certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience: 3-5 years of nursing experience required; prior experience in education, informatics, instructional technology, LMS management, or EHR optimization preferred.

SKILLS:

Strong understanding of clinical workflows, documentation standards, and health information systems

Proficiency with LMS platforms and data analytics

Expertise in adult learning, technology-enabled education, and workflow redesign

Excellent communication, collaboration, and changemanagement capabilities

Ability to translate clinical needs into technical solutions and support adoption

Proficiency with EBP, research utilization, and outcomes measurement

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Provides guidance and direction to team members assigned to specific projects.

Interviews and selects applicants in conjunction with Nurse Managers.

Evaluates staff in collaboration with Nurse Managers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULE:

Primarily onsite within assigned entities; travel across Brown University Health sites for system initiatives and education delivery is required. Standard business hours with flexibility for off-shift education and unit support as needed.

Pay Range:

$90,334.40-$180,689.60
