Technical Producer, Local Video, Video Technology and Operations
The
USA TODAY NETWORK is looking for a Technical Producer of Local Video to provide video production support for USA TODAY Network properties. This role will join the Visual & Technology team who is responsible for overseeing the workflows and tools required to support the creation of compelling video storytelling and social content across multiple newsrooms in the USA TODAY Network. From capturing high quality video content to post-production and video editing, this role is a force multiplier for Network properties.
This position will also be tasked with elevating the quality and quantity of live video streams, for both our brands' on-platform players and social platforms. The Technical Producer of Local Video will play a significant role in the planning, coordination, and management of Network live video streams, from concept to production.
This role contributes to growth by scaling USA TODAY Network properties access and proficiency on cloud-dependent video production systems and asset management tools.
Part technical operations, part production, this role requires a dynamic skill set that gets at the heart of what it means to work in digital media today.
Responsibilities:
- Provide logistical and operational expertise for all field productions, including creation and implementation of best practices for shot creation, field production, and video transmission for Network properties.
- Support team leads while partnering with multiple IT teams to integrate various technical components to meet rapidly evolving technical requirements and business needs.
- Coordinate and train team members and video champions across the USA TODAY NETWORK on best practices for all technical operations, systems and production software.
- Advise key leaders across the USA TODAY NETWORK on aspects of video technical strategy and its related ecosystem; make timely recommendations when tactical pivots are required and/or advised.
- Stay up-to-date on new technology trends; identify developing technology to better the business.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in journalism or any other subject or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Expert knowledge of video production, transmission, hardware, and non-linear editing systems, with a focus on Adobe Creative Cloud applications and workflows.
- In-depth knowledge of livestreaming software, hardware, and social destination requirements.
- Experience with web-based video interview recording platforms.
- Excellent critical thinking skills and an aptitude for solving problems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of IP video.
- Advanced knowledge of network infrastructure.
- Advanced knowledge of system security.
- Experience in project management.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $47,343.75 and $73,974.61. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
