Overview

The Behavioral Health Care Navigator provides specialized expert support, intervention, and care coordination to members at high risk of adverse health outcomes specific to mental and behavioral health needs. When members are identified through risk stratification or referred from the community, the Behavioral Health Care Navigator follows established protocols, adhering to strict timelines and documentation standards to perform an assessment and engage the member and caregiver in maximizing systems and resources to meet the needs in the least restrictive environment. The Behavioral Health Care Navigator pays special attention to member safety and provides education to caregivers on safety planning. The Behavioral Health Care Navigator is knowledgeable about ever-changing community resources available to support members in need of acute mental health services. This position is also responsible for performing utilization management using clinical knowledge and experience to authorize services, monitor for over and underutilization of services, and ensure accurate service level usage. Transitional care planning is a key role of the Behavioral Health Care Navigator for members moving between care settings. The Behavioral Health Care Navigator promotes equitable, quality care through appropriate, cost-effective interventions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree RN and 3-5 years experience Experienced mental health professional with plan experience in prior authorization and/or a clinical setting, such as inpatient hospital, clinic, etc. with demonstrated skills in attention to detail and coordination of care across multiple settings or
  • Master's Degree Behavioral Health professional with Master's degree, and clinical license through the KS Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board OR MO Division of Professional Registration and 3-5 years experience Experienced mental health professional with plan experience in prior authorization and/or a clinical setting, such as inpatient hospital, clinic, etc. with demonstrated skills in attention to detail and coordination of care across multiple settings
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri, Licensed Master's Social Worker MO, Licensed Clinical Social Worker MO, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, MO Licensed Professional Counselor, KS Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas, Licensed Master's Social Worker KS, Licensed Clinical Social Worker Specialist KS, Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist, KS Licensed Professional Counselor, Not Applicable required upon hire
  • One of the following: Certified Case Manager, American Case Management required upon hire
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • Employees must obtain Certified Case Manager or equivalent within 730 days
  • Employees must obtain American Case Management or equivalent within 730 days
  • Licensure requirements are different dependent on if incumbent is an RN or SW - see requirements below.
  • If incumbent is SW - role requires 1 clinical license and 1 master's level license (in opposing states). If incumbent is clinically licensed in both KS + MO, no Master's level license is required. Required Upon Hire
  • LSCSW KS Licensed Clinical Social Worker Specialist KS OR other independent behavioral license through the KS Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board such as: LCMFT OR LCPC. Preferred Upon Hire
  • LCSW MO Licensed Clinical Social Worker MO OR other independent behavioral license through the MO Division of Professional Registration such as: LMFT OR LPC. Preferred Upon Hire
  • LMSW KS Licensed Master's Social Worker KS OR other masters level behavioral license through the KS Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board such as: LMFT OR LPC. Must have a license in the state of primary work location upon hire, and then be dually licensed in both states within 90 days of employment. Required Upon Hire
  • LMSW MO Licensed Master's Social Worker MO OR other masters level behavioral license through the MO Division of Professional Registration such as: LMFT OR LPC. Must have a license in the state of primary work location upon hire, and then be dually licensed in both states within 90 days of employment. Required Upon Hire
  • Accredited Case Manager through the National Board of Case Management or Certified Case Manager through the Commission for Case Manager Certification (certification must be obtained within 2 years of hire). Required

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $37.96/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
