Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

Team Leaders takes overall responsibility for the efficient operation of their areas production resources. Team Leads have key responsibilities for quality and productivity, and they make an important contribution to overall cost control and profitability based on their execution of the day-to-day plan

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES: Safety:

* Follow all safety policies and practices.

* Enter Gensuite items when incidents are identified.

* Complete open Gensuite items on time and completely for the area.

* Tracking and communicating all safety card problems turned in by team members.

* Area Safety walks as part of 5S in area - conducted throughout the day and report timely.

* Under the guidance of their supervisor, monitor workers on site during production activities to ensure adherence to ethics and safety procedures.

* Evaluate manufacturing equipment for safety and functionality.

Quality:

Team Leads are on the front line and must take personal responsibility for quality or liaise with a quality management team to ensure that product quality meets the standards customers expect. Team Leads must monitor the quality performance and ensure that production workers adhere to quality policies. Team Leads act to deal with quality problems so that they can minimize waste or reworking on the production line.

* Under the guidance of their supervisor, Team Leaders is to ensure all team members follow all engineering and quality requirements and documentation in performance of duties.

o Ensure that products and goods manufactured meet quality standards.

o Check finished products to ensure quality, and that industry standards are met before they are declared ready for use.

* Final Product Inspections are completed on all orders.

o Ensure inspections are completed accurately and timely.

o Ensure all inspections are filed correctly daily.

o Ensuring proper process documentation is in the area.

o Ensuring all products moved off the line are correctly identified.

o Communication with quality on all issues related to product quality concerns.

o TIB Tracking for quality is accurate and updated daily weekly and monthly on time.

* Ensure Action items are identified and completed.

o Participate in all quality meetings related to non-conforming products from area.

o Ensure Quality Star point members are identified and assigned to meeting.

Delivery:

Resource allocation is an important responsibility for Team Leaders. Under the guidance of the supervisor, Team Leaders can decide which machines to use and how many production line workers to deploy using information supplied to them from build documents like the "Bill of Operations". Team Leaders must look to use the minimum resources, when necessary, while meeting production and delivery deadlines. Overtime may be necessary to meet urgent delivery dates or increase production levels. By improving efficiency and productivity, Team Leaders can ensure that they can meet production deadlines and reduce costs. Team Leaders help the Supervisor analyze manufacturing data to identify any production bottlenecks or eliminate unnecessary processes. Team Leaders works directly with Production Engineers to identify ways to improve the speed or accuracy of production equipment. Team Leaders also wok with area trainers to improve the skills of the team members in the area.

Responsibilities Breakdown:

* Responsible for insuring goals are being tracked.

o Motivate workers to enhance production quantity and at the same time maintain high production standards.

o Safety, Quality, Delivery, and cost

* Labor Efficiency * Delivery Efficiency * Defective Parts Per Million goals

* Responsible for Escalation of all issues to the area supervisor and plant manager

o Follow escalation plan.

* Communicate all occurrences of downtime to leadership.

o Supervisor

o Managers

o Engineers

o Maintenance

* Insure all workorders are placed for all equipment downtime.

o Ensure a time frame is given for all downtime and communicate to Supervisor.

Cost:

By controlling or reducing production costs, Team Leaders helps the company maintain profit levels. Team Leaders helps the area supervisor analyze different elements of production to identify potential cost savings. They assist Manufacturing Engineering and lean resources in identifying certain processes that can be improved to increase throughput and reduce labor requirements. Team Leaders works closely with all other departments. They work with the procurement team to ensure that supplies of materials and components are available when they are needed. Team Leaders assists when necessary to provide specifications for the procurement team as well as report on the quality and performance of the company's suppliers. Team Leaders also works closely with the warehouse team to coordinate supplies to the area timely. Responsibility Breakdown: Responsible for insuring schedules are being followed.

o Working with planning to insure we are scheduled in the most efficient manner.

* Under the direction of the supervisor, ensure all labor is properly distributed.

o During processing times (Proper Manning is followed)

* Keep records of workers performance to efficiency goal o During downtime (Labor is moved to earn time)

* Keep records of equipment's, budgets, deliveries, and supplies, and make them available to management for evaluation

. * Work as a liaison between employees and supervisor to create healthy communication.

* Ensure that work materials are present as at when needed.

* Responsible for meeting the following goals:

o Safety,

o Efficiency,

o Scrap, and

o Delivery.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • High School Diploma, with 2-3 years manufacturing experience

Preferred:

  • Business or Technical Degre
