The Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing offers a full range of academic programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Science, Master of Science in Nursing Science, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nursing Science.

The Nursing Simulation Center is an integral component of the school's educational mission, serving as a simulated clinical environment where learners can safely develop and refine their skills, techniques, and clinical decision-making throughout their academic journey.


Your Role on the Team

Applies advanced knowledge of curriculum design, academic requirements, and experiential learning methodologies to coordinate and support professional health education programs. Oversees and maintains program operations, including the integration of teaching and learning activities, curriculum implementation, learner scheduling, database management, compliance tracking, and accreditation support functions. Ensures operational alignment with institutional policies, regulatory standards, and programmatic goals.

This position reports directly to the Accreditation and Operations Manager, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Simulation Center Director. The incumbent provides strategic and operational leadership for the technical and instructional functions of the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing Simulation Center, including community engagement and relationship development. The role holds comprehensive oversight of simulation center operations and administrative processes, including technical systems management, instructional support, and operational logistics.

The position requires integrating clinical knowledge, instructional support expertise, and advanced simulation and computer technologies. Core responsibilities include planning, coordinating, setting up, operating, and breaking down clinical simulation activities, objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), workshops, and special events. The incumbent ensures compliance with established simulation standards, best practices, safety requirements, and applicable regulations. Duties include troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of high-fidelity simulators, partial task trainers, audiovisual systems, and related multimedia equipment.

Additionally, the role serves as a technical instructor for simulation technologies and workshop programming, providing education and training to faculty, staff, and learners. The position leads and coordinates tours, demonstrations, and outreach initiatives for internal and external stakeholders. Oversight responsibilities also include procurement processes, resource allocation, scheduling optimization, and stewardship of physical and financial assets to ensure efficient, high-quality simulation operations that support program objectives and accreditation standards.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Associate's degree in a health-related field. 4 years of health-related or healthcare simulation experience may be accepted as a substitute
  • Proficient in Microsoft software applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and lead a team
  • Self-motivated and require little to no supervision for daily activities
  • Ability to assess, troubleshoot, and fix equipment failures in a timely fashion
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment; able to work evenings/weekends when required
  • Ability to acquire and manage department purchasing card(s)
  • Communication skills; include verbal, written, and active listening. Service-oriented and responsive to questions and requests. Ability to interact in a professional, resourceful, and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships within the department and with learners.
  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to work with highly complex faculty calendars/schedules requires extremely well organized and detail-oriented precision.
  • Knowledge of educational technology and systems. Ability to troubleshoot and triages related technology issues.
  • Ability to attain Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) with 24 months of hire
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 4 years of health-related or healthcare simulation experience

Preferred:

  • Thorough and operational knowledge of Laerdal SimCapture platform
  • Thorough and operational knowledge of Laerdal simulator systems, including SimPad
  • Thorough and operational knowledge of Gaumard simulator systems
  • Certified Simulation Healthcare Operations Specialist (CHSOS)
  • Previous experience working with healthcare simulation
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic (EMT-P)
  • Basic knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Basic knowledge of health professions education industry.
  • Basic knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Acquiring skills in developing and implementing processes and systems. Familiarity with the administrative and operational implications in a program.
  • Investigative, data analysis, and reporting skills. Ability to generate computer reports, checking for errors, correcting, and submitting accurate reports. Skills include entering, maintaining, extracting, and analyzing data in electronic systems.
  • Master's degree in related area preferred

  • Ability to travel for training and professional development
