| Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The Temporary Library Technician - Cataloging Assistant provides support for copy cataloging materials and completing cataloging projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Cataloging books and other library materials
- Reviewing and reconciling errant or incomplete metadata
- Assisting with data migrations
- Physically processing new and existing materials for the library collections

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency, two years related experience, and demonstrated ability with generally accepted office software programs. Work may require knowledge of
UNCW policies and procedures or the ability apply policies and procedures to the work to be performed in the department. |
| Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience |
- Extensive knowledge of cataloging rules and procedures
- Ability to type with speed and accuracy
- Familiarity with cataloging software such as Connexion, MarcEdit, and an integrated library system
- Experience with the Library of Congress and Dewey Decimal Classification systems
- Experience with data cleanup projects
- Experience with Sierra or Alma library catalog systems

Please note, this is a temporary position.
This temporary position is 20 hours per week, running from March-May 2026. The typical schedule will be weekdays with possible weekends, afternoons into the evening - final schedule determined between selected candidate and supervisor. Flexibility in availability is preferred to occasionally work alternative hours as needed, but weekly hours will not fall below 20.
