NATURE AND SCOPE
Reporting to the Director, Compliance Advisory leads the credit union's compliance testing and quality assurance programs to ensure adherence to regulatory and internal requirements. This role oversees process reviews, control assessments, and remediation efforts to minimize organizational risk and strengthen compliance effectiveness. The Manager, Compliance Quality directs and develops compliance team members, partners with business and risk stakeholders, and drives continuous improvement in compliance quality and risk management practices across the organization.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of progressive compliance experience within a financial institution, including demonstrated leadership or supervisory responsibilities. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
1. Previous experience managing a compliance team is preferred.
2. Knowledge of current regulatory requirements and proven research skills.
3. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing compliance monitoring plans.
4. Knowledge of financial operations, policies, and procedures including but not limited to internal audits, and action plan design and follow up.
5. Experience working with regulators and other governmental agencies.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the proven ability to work across various departments and levels in an organization.
7. Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in various situations while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
8. Proven ability to independently organize work, balance multiple priorities and manage a variety of projects in a high volume work environment with strong attention to detail.
9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, organizational skills and the ability effectively lead a team.
10. Must develop a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as they relate to this position. Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all job-related state and federal laws and regulations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Monitors existing compliance programs to ensure alignment with external regulations and internal policies. Develops and implements new compliance programs as determined.
2. Oversees the quality assurance function for first mortgage lending to ensure that investor requirements are met; reports trends and risks to management and works with mortgage lending to address findings.
3. Assists with maintenance of issues log and action plans, and review of analytics to determine extent of compliance risks.
4. Prepares thorough and accurate responses to inquiries from regulatory agencies and completes all required compliance documentation. Works directly with auditors and examiners during regulatory compliance examinations.
5. Works collaboratively with business units to successfully implement any procedural changes resulting from testing and monitoring, observations or findings. Proactively collects feedback to assess effectiveness of proposed changes.
6. As an integral part of the organization, offers knowledge resources for all compliance-related matters; researches, assesses, and monitors new developments; communicates relevant compliance-related information to associates in specific business areas to ensure familiarity with compliance requirements.
7. Maintains current and extensive knowledge of the laws and regulatory guidelines with which the credit union is required to comply.
8. Directs the work of Compliance staff.
9. Executes compliance strategic goals for the organization and adheres to approved budgets.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
