Job Description

Shift: Morning
Schedule: 5 AM to 3 PM. Monday - Friday
Pay Rate: $27.00



Position Overview
The Lead Operator is responsible for assisting Shift Supervisors with problems on the production machines to assure we safely deliver the highest quality product at the best efficiency and lowest scrap possible using effective manufacturing methods. The Lead Operator will act as the supervisor in the absence of the Shift Supervisor. The rolereports to the Shift Supervisor.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
* Follow all Key Operating Procedures, including but not limited to:
o Company and facility Policies
o Safety - LTCT; use of proper PPE; adherence to all applicable safety rules
o Quality - PQCT, Bag Specifications, Testing Frequencies and Procedures
o SOPs - Methods for performing work
o SSOP/Good Housekeeping standards (keep machines and area sanitized and clean)
o Good Manufacturing Practices
o Food/Safety Security
o HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
o Food Regulatory and Customer Specifications]
* Ability to act as the Shift Supervisor in their absence.
* Responsible for scrap, efficiency, and product quality.
* Work closely together with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Technical Resources to optimize the performance of the unit.
* Communicate all changes in a positive and respectful manner to resolve all issues.
* Complete all documentation for work or changes made to the machines accurately.
* Ensure that the Good Manufacturing Procedures are upheld.
* Maintain housekeeping and order, (clean up after yourself and put things away properly).
* Train and assist new team members as needed.
* Assist with change over's when needed to assure completion and good quality in a timely manner.
* Set up and continue a monthly training program for operators to ensure all operators are consistent with how they work on machines. Also, to troubleshoot and perform light duty maintenance activities.
* Assist in the training of other personnel in proper maintenance, operation, and set-up of equipment according to approved company procedures.
* Work independently to assist in managing critical spare parts inventories and rebuilding parts.
* Responsible for receiving necessary training and doing light electrical work as needed.
* Participate in training and develop to improve maintenance skills as needed.
* Maintain CPR, First Aid, and Fork Lift Truck certification.
* Work as a valuable team member throughout the production room to accomplish the business goals:
o Help others as needed
o Assist and work closely with Quality, Maintenance, and Technical resources to ensure that issues are being addressed to optimize the performance of the line
o Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements
* Other duties as required by the business.



Additional information:
PPE is provided by the company.
Steel shoes are reimbursed with the receipt.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: 3 years of manufacturing experience and previous lead experience are mandatory.
Specific Skills: Ability to read measuring tapes and product specifications with mechanical aptitude.
Equipment & Machinery: Pallet jacks, machine hoists.
Computer Experience & Software: Computer skills (MS Office).
Language: Bilingual is preferred (English and Spanish)
