Founded in 1855, Collins is family-owned and produces softwood and hardwood products at their facilities in Chester, California, Lakeview, Oregon and Kane, Pennsylvania. In Chester, Collins has the Builders Supply retail hardware and building materials store. Collins is highly respected for their sustainable forest management, practiced across their 370,000 acres of FSC-certified lands in California, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.

Position Summary:

The Safety/Administrative Specialist is a professional who will create value for the company by partnering with the management team to promote a cohesive and safe working environment. This individual will serve as a representative to the Lakeview, Oregon location, providing knowledge and support to employees of the business unit in both safety and administrative functions.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Promote and develop positive employee relations by providing direct support to all employees.
  • Assist with the business unit's safety program to include workers' compensation claims, safety committee, training, safety audits, and other as needed.
  • Responsible for safety orientation for new hires.
  • Conduct incident/accident investigations as needed in regard to violations of company policy.
  • Responsible for scheduling interviews on behalf of the corporate HR team and local management.
  • Responsible for ensuring hourly payroll records are input and processed accurately in coordination with the payroll specialist.
  • Responsible for new hire and benefit orientation for all staff. Support new hires with inputting beneficiary information as needed.
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding of all hourly and salaried staff as directed by corporate HR.
  • Assist employees with filing for state and federal protective leave laws by providing them with company resource information.
  • Partner with the HR and Safety team on local initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
  • On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.

Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in safety, business, or a related field. Equivalent experience accepted.
  • Previous administrative experience required.
  • Previous safety experience preferred.
  • OSHA 10 preferred or required within the first six months.


Environmental Conditions:

May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, and variable weather and temperatures.

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

Individuals must be willing to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Positions may require additional PPE at specific times. Examples of PPE which may be required include high visibility garments, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, foot protection, a face shield, and a respirator.
