Target hiring range for this position will be between $63,000-$70,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Job Summary:

This role supports reporting and analytical needs across the Alumni Relations and Development organization. This job function focuses on developing, maintaining, and enhancing reports and dashboards using fundraising and advancement data, with an emphasis on Oracle SQL and structured reporting workflows. The position requires intermediate SQL knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot data and reporting issues with guidance from senior team members as needed. The team member will work closely with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, ensure data accuracy, and support both ad-hoc and recurring reporting needs, while also contributing to documentation and self-service enablement efforts. Exposure to Salesforce reporting and CRM Analytics is preferred, with additional familiarity in tools such as Tableau and Cognos considered a plus.

Please note: The target budgeted salary for this position is $63,000 - $70,000 annually. Offers will be based on candidate experience and education, as well as equity within Northwestern University.

Please note: This role is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, up to two days remote and three onsite.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using various tools and methods
  • Understand reporting needs of customers and document requirements as necessary
  • Provide timely ad-hoc support to customer requests
  • Become familiar with data models (CRM and data warehouse)
  • Create functional or technical documentation on reports and processes as needed
  • Promote self-service reporting and training amongst organization
  • Collaborate with central IT team as needed for particular data and reporting processes

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications, Skills)

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1+ years of experience with SQL
  • 6+ months experience with Tableau or Cognos

Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications, Skills)

  • 6+ months experience with salesforce lightning reports or crm analytics
  • Experience working in advancement operations, supporting fundraising
  • Familiarity with an advancement crm

  • Ability to translate business questions into structured data queries and reports; apply SQL to extract and analyze data; and identify and resolve data inconsistencies in a methodical way.

Stakeholder Communication & Requirements Gathering

  • Ability to engage stakeholders to understand reporting needs, ask clarifying questions, document requirements, and communicate data insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Data Accuracy & Process Discipline

  • Strong attention to detail in validating report outputs, maintaining documentation, and supporting consistent, reliable reporting workflows.
