Assistant Information Technology (IT) Support Lead

Fort Bragg, North Carolina

ATS is looking for a qualified Assistant Information Technology (IT) Support Lead to support the Special Operations Mission Training Center Facility at Fort Bragg, NC.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support and assist the IT Support Lead in managing IT and cybersecurity operations for the Special Operations Mission Training Center, ensuring secure, compliant, and reliable information systems.

Execute and maintain DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes, including development, management, and sustainment of RMF packages within eMASS, to support Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.

Conduct vulnerability assessments and security scans, utilizing ACAS/Nessus tools to identify, analyze, document, and track vulnerabilities and remediation actions.

Develop, update, and maintain RMF artifacts, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), security control assessments, and supporting documentation.

Monitor system security posture and assist with incident response, supporting detection, analysis, containment, and reporting of cybersecurity incidents in coordination with Government stakeholders.

Support implementation and validation of security controls, ensuring compliance with NIST, FISMA, and DoD cybersecurity policies across Windows, Linux, and network environments.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to IT staff, supporting security best practices, system hardening, and continuous improvement of cybersecurity operations.

Serve as a liaison with cybersecurity and accreditation authorities, supporting audits, inspections, and compliance reviews as required.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Bachelor's degree in information technology (IT) or Cybersecurity related field or an associate degree in Information Technology (IT) or Cybersecurity related field with five years' experience.





  • Must possess a current certification that meets the requirements for the DCWF Information Systems Security Officer (722 at the Intermediate or Advanced proficiency level, such as CISSP or CISM.





  • Must complete a minimum of 20 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) annually, or as required to maintain their certifications, whichever is greater.





  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the following areas (as evidenced by experience or training):




    • Cybersecurity principles and methodologies.



    • Risk management processes and frameworks.



    • Network security architecture and protocols.



    • Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing techniques.



    • Security system design and implementation.



    • Security incident response and handling.



    • Compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, PCI DSS).



    • Two years' experience managing DoD RMF packages within the eMASS system.



    • Experience conducting vulnerability scans and analyzing results.



    • Experience developing and maintaining RMF artifacts.



    • Operating system security (Windows and Linux).



    • Network security, architecture, protocols, and technologies.



    • Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing techniques.






SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:




  • Two years' experience managing DoD RMF packages within the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Application (EMASS) system.





  • Experience conducting vulnerability scans with ACAS/Nessus and analyzing scan results.





  • Experience developing and maintaining RMF artifacts, such as the System Security Plan (SSP) and Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M).

Working Environment: The working environment is a high-security, fast-paced Special Operations training facility that operates in direct support of mission-critical and time-sensitive training events. Personnel work closely with military leadership, government representatives, contractors, and visiting units, often in a dynamic environment with frequent schedule changes, after-hours requirements, and surge operations. The position requires strict adherence to Army physical security policies, discretion when handling sensitive information, constant attention to detail, and a strong customer-service mindset while operating within controlled access areas and under Secret-level security clearance requirements.
