LOCATION OF (2) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH & SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES, MIDDLE TENNESSEE MENTAL HEALTH INSTITUTE, DAVIDSON COUNTY Qualifications Education and Experience: Possession of a master's degree in social work from an accredited college or university. Necessary Special Qualifications: Applicants for this class must possess one or more of the following conditions at the time of appointment and must be maintained during employment in the Psychiatric Social Worker 1 classification as set forth in Tennessee Code Annotated, 63-23:
Overview The Psychiatric Social Worker 1 provides psychiatric social work services, assessing patient needs, engaging in treatment planning, and leading psychoeducational and psychosocial groups. Works with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary team to address psychosocial challenges, coordinate hospital discharge, and encourage patient recovery. This is the entry-working level classification in the Psychiatric Social Work series. Employees in this role provide direct social work services including individual assessments, psychoeducational and psychosocial groups, and discharge planning in a mental health facility. Unlike Psychiatric Social Worker 2, this role does not involve supervisory responsibilities but focuses on direct patient care, case management, and discharge planning. Responsibilities 1. Conducts biopsychosocial assessments and develops individualized care plans. 2. Provides individual, group, and family therapy to address psychosocial challenges. 3. Facilitates discharge planning and connects patients with community resources. 4. Maintains detailed records, progress notes, and treatment summaries. 5. Evaluates patient needs, adjusts care plans, and resolves service delivery challenges. 6. Engages with families, courts, and external agencies to support patient care. 7.
