Salary/Grade: NEX/14
Target hiring range for this position will be between $53,304-$62,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data
Job Summary:
Supports the basic installation and repair of network/telecommunication systems, products and services. Responds to and completes simple and standard user network/telecommunication requests and associated documentation and reports.
Specific Responsibilities:
Administration
- Documents activities, events and materials used in maintenance logs or on service reports.
- Prepares system performance/configuration reports.
- Provides input to procedures modifications to assist in effective operations of areas of responsibility
Development
- Completes basic installation, repair and maintenance of University telecom and network services using standard tools and test equipment while following established procedures.
Performance
- Responds to user inquiries on NU communications systems regarding functions and problems with connectivity and performance in a courteous and professional manner.
- Follows through on problems and inquiries according to established practices.
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year of communications wiring and installation work experience or comparable accredited technical training is required.

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
- Telecommunications or Information Technology training.
- Familiarity with Pinnacle
- Basic knowledge of Cat5 wiring
- Mount switches
- Install Ethernet patch cords
- Run jumpers in the switch room
- Working knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
- Experience in traditional telecommunication MAC
- Working knowledge of Ethernet 802, 3X
- Outside plant experience
Fiber Optic experience
