Description Summary: The Manager, Facilities and Construction is responsible for planning, coordinating, evaluating, managing the construction, renovation of projects, and general maintenance of building aesthetic and general operating features. Responsibilities: 1.Assists with developing construction and renovation project scopes and budgets for review by others. Provides technical assessment and recommendations for capital infrastructure improvements. 2.Negotiates and secures cost estimates for projects utilizing consultants, architects, hospital department resources and others appropriate for the project. 3.Represents the Hospital during construction and renovation projects to ensure that the Hospital's best interests are protected by attending routine planning and construction meetings, clarifying hospital objectives and standards, and resolving conflicts. 4.Communicates and coordinates project planning steps effectively with all appropriate parties involved. 5.Manages renovation and construction projects to ensure coordinated phasing and scheduling are effectively achieved among all parties. 6.Organizes projects to ensure infection control (ICRA), interim life safety measures, noise, vibration, and privacy considerations are addressed in both the planning process and during project implementation. 7.Plans projects to minimize the disruptive effects on patients, family, hospital staff and physicians while balancing operational efficiency and cost concerns. 8.Ensures projects comply with building codes, electrical codes, fire codes safety concerns, and accreditations and regulatory standards. 9.Ensures that department and hospital leaders affected by projects are appropriately apprised of project status, responsibilities, and schedules during the project's renovation and construction phases. 10.Coordinates activities, plans, and decision with designers and general contractors to facilitate timely completion of projects. 11.Manages project costs to meet project budget. 12.Reviews and recommends (to appropriate hospital management) requested construction change directives and change orders. 13.Responsible for effective, cost efficient, timely and compliant repairs of general building components and aesthetics throughout the facility. Ensures current maintenance problems are addressed efficiently so future issues are minimized. 14.Works closely with external contractors to coordinate maintenance, repairs, installations and projects. 15.Manages the operation, maintenance, testing and response to fire alarm systems. 16.May handle issues related to building automation systems. 17.Works closely with external contractors to coordinate maintenance, repairs, installations and projects. 18.Remains knowledgeable of the status of all physical plant work. Maintains reports and records on installations, repairs and preventative maintenance schedules. Other information: Education Bachelor's Degree required. Formal degree, and training in engineering or construction management preferred.
Licensure/Certification None
Experience Minimum 10 years' experience in construction engineering or construction project management. Specific experience in health care construction and renovation project management preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities *Ability to read and understand architectural construction drawings and documents. *Good interpersonal skills. Ability to build effective relationships with leadership, architects, construction professionals, tradespeople and hospital teammates. *Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. *Proficient with MS Office and able to learn new software rapidly.
Valid NC Driver's License: Yes If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
