Job Description




As a Security Guard - Part-Time Patrol Rounds in Norfolk, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. You will conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols, maintain a visible presence to help reduce security-related incidents, and complete clear reports. You will greet employees, visitors, and vendors with helpful customer service, communicate concerns promptly, and work closely with a team that is agile, reliable, and innovative, always acting with integrity and putting people first.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to personnel and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following post orders and established reporting protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of buildings, gates, parking areas, and perimeter zones to help to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Control access at designated entrances by verifying identification and/or authorization, directing visitors to appropriate checkpoints, and documenting entries and exits as required.
  • Complete detailed incident reports, daily activity logs, and patrol documentation, and communicate timely updates to Allied Universal supervision and site contacts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess a TSA issued TWIC.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
