Assumes the accountability and responsibility as a professional nurse for providing total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient centered care for an assigned group of patients. Provides direct patient contact, which includes assessing the patient, developing a comprehensive nursing plan of care, implementing aspects of nursing care to meet identified patient care outcomes, evaluating the effectiveness of a nursing plan of care and education of patients/care givers who require infusion therapy and other nursing services. Follows established nursing objectives, standards, policies, and procedures. Practices within the defined scope of practice for the Registered Nurse and commits to providing safe, quality infusion nursing care.
The successful candidate:
Must be able to work 9a-9:30p, 3-12's per week between Monday-Friday. Perform comprehensive nursing assessments; collect and document patient data, toxicity screens, allergies, medications, and diagnostic results in the EMR. Identify patient needs, prioritize care, and communicate condition changes to physicians and the interdisciplinary team. Develop, implement, and revise individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Administer medications, chemotherapy/biotherapy, IV fluids, and blood products in accordance with ONS and hospital standards. Provide patient and caregiver education on disease processes, treatment side effects, procedures, and discharge instructions; document understanding. Recognize and respond to emergency situations; advocate for patient rights and ensure safe, ethical care delivery. Coordinate care across disciplines, perform effective handoffs, and uphold infection control and equipment safety standards. Evaluate patient outcomes, document variations in care, and implement appropriate nursing interventions. Delegate and supervise nursing care; support staffing needs and participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives. Maintain professionalism, flexibility (including floating as needed), and a collaborative, team-focused approach.
Qualifications Your qualifications should include:
Current state Registered Nurse License required Bachelor of Science Degree required or enrolled within 6 months of hire and completed within 3 years from hire date Current BLS (If not AHA certificate must be obtained 30 days of hire) required ACLS (If not AHA certificate must be obtained within 30 days of hire) preferred Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy certification required, If not currently ONS certified, a Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card must be obtained within 30 days of hire Minimum 2 years in oncology and/or medical-surgical units preferred Experience in multi-disciplinary approach to patient care Excellent infusion therapy-related skills (peripheral and central lines)
