The Duke Energy Information Technology Summer Internship Program offers currently enrolled college students the opportunity to apply their passion, innovation, and technical knowledge to the energy sector.

IT Interns will gain hands-on experience in areas including software engineering, data analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and cloud engineering. We seek highly motivated candidates who are eager to tackle complex challenges, contribute to team objectives, and develop skills for their future technical and professional careers.

Throughout the summer, interns will explore the Enterprise Strategy and Solutions department and gain insight into broader company operations through site visits, information sessions, and networking events with senior leadership and fellow interns.

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a 4-year degree program as a rising senior in an IT or engineering related major such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Computer Systems or Cybersecurity.
  • Valid driver's license

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
  • Prior internship or relevant technical project experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to community service or volunteer work
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and proactive problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of programming languages, operating systems, and computer networks

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work full-time (40 hours/week) throughout the duration of thesummer.

  • Office environment

  • Hybrid mobility classification - work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations.

    • Candidates who are hired for a hybrid role and reside outside of 50 miles from their assigned work location may be eligible for a housing stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses and will be determined at time of offer.
