This position has administrative responsibility for the day-to-day activities of the Pediatric Surgery Division academic office. Responsibilities include short- and long-term financial planning and analyzing financial information. Serves as the liaison between high-level administrators within UCDH and outside agencies. Incumbent has the experience to apply theory and put into practice with in-depth understanding of the daily needs of academic medicine faculty. Incumbent is able to identify and analyze problems and uses good judgement, resources and knowledge to determine and implement solutions.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and training.
- Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
- Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities.
- Uses skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operations professional to manage, plan and administer the operations.
- Interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
- Solid knowledge of common university specific computer applications and programs. Advanced knowledge in the use of financial software, spreadsheets, and word processing programs. Strong editing and proofing skills.
- Demonstrates good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong writing skills.
- Strong project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education and/or training in business management combined with two years progressive management experience.
- Previous experience supporting executive leadership.
- Knowledge of University financial policies and ability to strictly adhere to them.
- Operational level knowledge and understanding of budget preparation, analysis and forecasting with ability to control complex budgets and recognize potential problems.
- Ability to understand multiple mathematical concepts; read and interpret statistical data; construct charts and graphs; understand and configure complex budgets from $1M-$10M from various sources in accordance with the varying needs of a clinical and research division involving multiple departments, sites and universities.

Department Overview
The Department of Surgery encompasses a wide variety of surgical specialties. These include bariatric surgery, burn surgery, colorectal surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, endocrine surgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, transplant surgery, trauma, acute care and surgical critical care surgery, vascular surgery, and oncologic surgery. The Department's extensive surgical expertise, in combination with ongoing teaching and research activities, provide ample resources and advanced surgical techniques for patient care.
